I've been running the 8 bulb T5 for about six months with both the mh and hps bulbs in early veg and have had EXTREMELY good luck with it...after two weeks under the T5 my babies go under my 400 mh for an extra week and the plants have never looked as bushy as before...the lack of heat output from the T5's are what make them great...stick them RIGHT on top (fairly close...) without any signs of burn...my only bad comment is the lack of light penetration(ha...I said "penetration")...which is why I stick 'em under 400 mh for that week,gets the lower growth a little better when growing bigger plants...overall an excellent investment...stay safe
i would agree with what u say gsxr. my only problem with them is the penetration of the lighting. i think its an excelent plan to have these t5's doing most of the veg work and let a MH get them taller than the t5 will effectively do.
i must say that i am very impressed with one week worth of growth under these t5's. they are absolutely perfect for clones. even MH doesnt put on the growth that t5's do. they are bushy, tight noded and greener than any clone ive ever taken. i think gsxr has it right, about 2 weeks under t5's, then 1 week under MH (because of the light penetration of a 1 ft tall plant) is about perfect amount of veg time. i am absolutely going to give them a 5 out of 5 stars. they are a MUST.
