T5/CFL Rubbermaid Stealth Grow from Bagseed.

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by P0keSm0t, Nov 28, 2006.

  1. These started off bagseed. There are 4 total plants...I probably wont end up keeping them all due to the amount of room inside the rubbermaid container and the amount of lighting I have. There is an exhaust fan on the upper top portion of the box and an intake near the top of the other end giving them good air flow constantly. They were under 24/0 lighting for the first week and now they are under 18/6. I used Shultz's potting soil mix and will be picking up fox farm soil and nutrients for transplant either tomorrow or Thursday. I am using this light:

But once again, I will be adding more light on either Wednesday or Thursday. This should be fine for now, I have 2 of the bulbs better for vegetation in there, and plan on changing them to the ones for flowering when they flower.

    Today is day 8.

The temp/humidity is nearly perfect. 78 F and 40% humidity.

I water my babies with just regular water and provide c02 to them through the leaves using carbonated water and a sprayer. I normally use that c02 on them 2-3 times while the light cycle is on and they seem to enjoy it. I water every couple days, maybe once a day. 1-3 Tablespoons per plant of water normally.

If anyone could tell what strain these are already, that would be awesome. I would love to know what kind of weed I am growing considering it is just bagseed.

  4. Welcome POkeSmOt!<O:p</O:p
Sorry I can help with the strain, but great start so far..:hello: <O:p</O:p

  5. Thank you anyways, any help that you can give me with the grow would be much appreciated though.

    Pull up a chair.

  6. Nobody else has anything else to say?

  7. I like your name man, we had kids in highschool that used to run around saying poke smot all the time. Anyways, post pics of your setup I'd like to see it...I don't know how much you will be able to grow in a rubbermaid box unless you are using an autoflowering seed but I'm interested in seeing how it turns out.

  8. The setup is just a rubbermaid container with a light strapped to the top. The plants are being held up to the light with books and stuff I had lying around.

I understand that I wont yield a LOT, but if I LST 1 or 2 of them in this thing, I might have some sort of good luck.

One of them has already started to smell a little so I guess that is a good thing.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can get a couple spiral CFL's into this thing? It is made of plastik so I dunno...Any ideas are welcome.

    Thank you everyone!

  9. Average growth and I transplanted one of them (The best growing one in my oppinion, #4). They seem to doing fine but I am noticing a little bit of twisting on leaves of plant #3.

    Plants 1 & 2 are fine.

    :smoking:.

    I will upload pictures tonight.

  10. I saw a grow like this back in the day on overgrow. The guy Scrog'd it, but you could just as easily LST it. He also used 2 rubbermaids, which you could consider doing when they start to get a little big bigger. He put a rubbermaid upsidedown over the other one and had cfl's at the top and along the sides if i remember correctly. He used some weathering where the rubbermaids met to have a better seal. I'm not sure how he loightproofed it otherwise. He yielded a very respectable amount (2.5 ounces of 3-4 plants if i recall correctly).

Good luck with this, i'll pull up a chair and watch this as i'm interested in trying something very similar. hope this helps, and i'll throw you some +rep

  11. Sweet, thank you for the compliments and the rep! I originally wanted to put it in a dresser or cabinet of some sorts (And I still may do that soon enough) but I decided against it and started growing in this.

Anywho, today is day 10. The plant that was transported is looking very healthy while the other 3 have a little bit of twisting in their leaves. Perhaps it is because they are running out of root room?

I would post pics now but I have to go to work, so I will post them tonight.

Thank you everyone! Keep the help coming....

  12. Your set up looks good, but i would plan on suplimenting the T-5 with 4 more CLF during flowering as they will stretch outside of the lights projection along the long side of your light. Im using a 4'x2' 8 bulb T-5 now and its great even for flowering. Use some aggressive LSTing and maybe cut your number of plants down to 2 or 3 at most. This will probably not be an issue as at least 1/2 of your seeds will be male.

  13. I'm gonna have mine in a rubbermaid cabinet.. they're pretty cheap, might consider that.

as for getting spiral CFLs in... I decided to go on a modular setup

    like so.

I've got 248watts of lighting ready to go.

  14. I like that idea...never thought of doing that.

    Thank you for your input!

  15. humidity too low, try to raise it.

  16. I did what DierWolf said and upped the humidity, so it is at aroudn 50% now which should be sufficient.

I will be posting pics tonight...sorry about all the delay...working 60 hours this week doesn't allow for much GC posting/reading .

The plants are looking great by the way.

  17. I decided to not be lazy and took a few pics. Plant 1 is in the larger pot because I was able to transplant it into there. The other 3 have yet to be transplanted...as I will probably only chose one of them to transplant (Room issues). I am expecting to transplant number 4 because it really seems like it has taken off compared to the other 2 that havn't. In fact...it kind of looks bigger than the one I transplanted . My lighting is the same as I spent most of my money from this weeks paycheck on a new bong and a little herb :smoking:. They seem to be having no problem right now under this light though...So I don't think it will matter much if I wait until Thursday to throw a few more lights in there.

One question though...VERY small roots are starting to appear at the bottom of the cup (They are visible just by looking) for plant 4. I am assuming this means I need to transplant into a larger pot...but I don't have one ATM. Do you think it will be okay to leave it in the cup until Thursday then transplant and put a few more lights in there or will leaving it in the party cup suspend its growth for the time period between now and Thursday?

If any of you can tell the strain or give me some kind of idea as to what kind it could be based off these pics that would be great too...otherwise, I won't mind waiting a couple more weeks before diagnosing what potential strains these could be.

    Thank you GC!

  18. If you put them upside down against each other, how do you have access to water, etc? (I assume you would need to tape up the join to lightproof it)

I imagine if you just stacked em both upright, one on top of the other, that you could use the lid of the top box for access?
