This is for reference to my very first grow and how everything is going. I’ll be posting updates and photos of everything that I can think of also for myself as a reference to look back on. This will be my first grow and I planned to do 5 black widows from ILGM all on a 5x7 vertical scrog if possible. Growing medium is fox farm organic super soil with no nutes from myself other then some additions of recharge and silica all within 10 gallon air pots. Lights are currently a 2000 watt and 1200 watt BESTEVA Reflector series currently at 18” above the plants. Water wasn’t ph’d at first until I found out my water was in the 8s so I’ve now been ph’ing my water to around 6.5. 4 out 5 of the little ones look great but the 5th one looks stunted. The cotyledon leaves on the 5th one had one of them not formed correctly and I believe stunting it’s growth severely but the 5th one also had issues wanting to stay standing up. It continued to want to turn downward towards the dirt in which case may have been my fault with the way I planted the seed on that one it was a experiment to see what would happen if I put the crown down. Germination was 6 hours in water then seed to dirt. 2 days in dirt they sprouted. I’m currently within day 10 after sprouting on August 22nd 2019 and all’s currently looking good. Ive ran a additional 6” line from the air handler of my house to the room to assist with cooling the room since I’ve been having trouble keeping the temp down below 80. Since the addition of the 6” line and two 6” fans for intake and exhaust the temps have been staying around 72 with RH at 60%. Going in to check on them for the day here soon so a little update photo coming.
Day 10 photos of all the girls, the recent photo up above was from day 7 of my biggest one. Here’s the one that had a bad cotyledon. And here’s the winner of the bunch, this ones my big baby of the 5.
So I’m onto day 16 of my first grow and I started to notice something that looked like boating on my biggest plant but only on one of the fan leaves. Others told me it was okay and not to worry. Somebody did state that the amount of time between my waterings may be a bit harsh since I’ve reached up to 6 days but the girls never tended to droop until today. I watered them all with a half gallon split up between the 5. I went ahead and used 1/8 tsp silica, 1/8 tsp recharge, 2 ml cal mag, 2 ml big bloom, 1 ml grow big, 1 ml seaweed extract. Also my biggest one has started on its 5th node and has its additional growth started on its 4th but I’m not sure if I’m all correct on this and about to to try my hand at topping / fiming. Here are a few update picks. Here’s my big girl. Here’s what used to be the runt. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
It’s been a min since I’ve updated on here just got a little busy here and there but since my last update I got my 8” raptor and mh blue 1000 watt and the plants love it. It was massive and took up all of my space so I had to pull the leds. So far I’ve watered back on 11th half gallon each just plain phd water then I watered on the 13th with phd water and nutes included because I was leaving for a trip for a couple of days and they seemed dried out a little more then normal. Here’s some update photos of em all. Here’s the used to be runt of the bunch. And here’s my queen! Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Update from previous post, I left from a trip over the weekend and didn’t pay attention to the fact that I sprayed with mighty before lights on and ended up frying a few leaves over the weekend from it amplifying the light. But all of the plants doubled in size from the last feeding and I’ll have to get some update pictures on here some time later today. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Is there more than 1 plant in the same pot? Looks like 2 plans in 1 pot? If your going to scrog ya may wanna do some research,it umm doesnt work that way from what I've read and been told,,I never heard of a vert scrog before..I'm also on my very first indoor grow and I did a scrog too.i got 4 ish weeks left on my 3 gorilla glue #4 and 1 king tutt,5 weeks veg from clone in 5 gal fabric pots, next time I'll use bigger pots 15 gallon,,2x4 closet and at this rate I'll end up with 8_10 dry ounces,I'm also using air pots to pump air into my roots and I have a co2 bag which imo is a waste of money and I wouldn't buy again, advanced nutrients also will give ya a better end result than most other synthetic nutrients as they have no heavy metals and have been scientifically proven to give better quality and yields than most other nute companies....research research research before ya start and you'll be fine..look at my first grow for example..I researched for 6 months before I started my grow and looking at 90 percent of other first time grows on here I'd say I have done fairly well considering those clones were 6 inches tall July 24th...hope this helped a little bit bud..happy growing Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Thanks and yea there’s two in one pot and I’ve read that it’s not good to run two in a pot but I decided to let it ride and see what happens anyways lol. One of them was actually the used to be runt and I had originally figured it was going to die off anyways it was more of a experiment on my part to see what would happen if I had placed the crown down but it’s now thriving as great as the others. After the incident of me burning some leaves with mighty spray that was a good on my part too I wasn’t thinking about anything other then my trip. The vert scrog idea that I have going right now is only due to the lack of space I have and with that I can double the canopy and I’ve only had em growing from seed to now is 32 days so I’m going another 30 days to work up to the screen I built and then flipping and strapping during its stretch. I’m definitely going to have to look into those advanced nutrients for surely. I didn’t plan on doing nutes at first due to to me using the living super soil but that changed lol. The pic you posted they look great was that your first grow? What kind of lights did you use? Also I’d say if you plan to use 15 gallon air pots then you definitely want more room. The 10 gallon air pots I’m using are 16” alone. And I’ve got them crammed into a 5ft long area lol. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Lol I knew somebody would ask for em. So what’s it been like a month since my last update in this journal? So in the last month I’ve swapped the girls over to flower at day 52, placed the new 8” raptor reflector with a 1000hps and mh within the month, and they absolutely loved it! I’ve been on a ff trio feeding every other feeding, don’t ask ppm I’m slow when it comes to that but so far they look great other then a potassium deficiency and a little nitrogen toxicity a while back. Here’s some update pics of em too and to be surprised the tiny one has gotten as big as the others maybe slightly bigger lol. I’d say there close to 16” if I hadn’t trained em back to the vert wall. Oh and the lighting isn’t the greatest at this photo I’ll have to do some quick flash’s when lights are out. The one with the doubles in pot has the original smallest plant on the left which is now thriving even more! Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
You commented in my journal. I’m like wait he has a grow going too let me go check it out lol. I get emails when I follow a journal. I forgot about it tbh, you haven’t been logging. It’s a struggle posting when it’s not much traffic in the journal, I definitely get it lol. your plants are small, due to lst. but I’ve seen plants that big pull ounces depending on the amount of tops it has. It basically come out all colas. They look good. Can’t wait to see em pack on weight.
Yea I honestly just get busy with other stuff I just forget to post updates lol. Yea there not all too big cuz of the lst I honestly just used the opportunity to lst and use the vert scrog as a learning experience even tho I did break off several of my main tops at one time . Anywho tho I’m excited for the flowering stage, they just started to put out really long white hairs from the lower calyxs and they were really short before flowering so the transition is really cool to watch. I’m excited to see how well yours packs on by the end of it since your running a form of soilless they ought to be chunky girls lol . Get back with me in a week or so unless you update it in your journal of how those res tanks go. Also watch out for what paint you use so it doesn’t permeate the plastic and contaminate your water when you paint em. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I get that too. It’s hectic working for a living then coming home to work again in the garden. AND post here lol. I most post for me, and if anyone wants to watch the journey that’s a bonus for me. It’s awesome watching the different stages of growth and how much they change once they get flipped into flower. Like a caterpillar to a butterfly. I’ll get plastic appropriate paint. Thanks for the heads up.
Lol hell yea and it’s np. I’ll be watching to see how they come out so keep up the good work! Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Update group photo since the last update posted. They have all grown 5” maybe 6” since the last update. Feeding schedule is becoming more frequent instead of 1 Gal each every 5 to 6 days it’s up to 1 Gal each every 3 to 4 days now. I have been wondering what’s the latest I can do selective trimming since I have a ton of water leaves the size of my head blocking the bud sites back behind the screen so I think I’ll look more into that or post on here to see what others think. I also pulled one of the leds for a cloning station I’ll be making so that’ll be fun to work with just gotta watch out and keep it in the closet. Also I’d like to add the pot with two plants seems to be that both plants are outgrowing the other 2 normal single potted plants and of course my monster girl she’s the bread winner. Well off to bed and here’s the group photo. Not Optimized Optimized Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Most recent updates for the journal! It’s two weeks now into flower and I wanted to do some selective trimming but I found something else and that’s to completely clean the plant of all of its fan leaves / water leaves. I did it to one plant to see what it does over all and then I also took clones while I was trimming. I ended up leaving the dome lid off last night tho but when I woke up all of the cuttings were praying towards the light so I sprayed em and put the lid on so I’m hoping they’ll grow. I am having a issue with algae in my water reservoir, I found out a while back that white containers were bad and I realized I had white containers so I checked em and they had a small amount in there and it’s gotten worse over the past few days. Anywho I’m off and will be back with updates later. The plant in the right has been the one that was striped of all its water leaves. Full frontal of the striped plant.
