So I recently bought a copy of The Psychedelic Experience by Timothy Leary (really interesting read by the way), and I came across this symbol. There's no explanation for it in the book, and I couldn't get a definitive answer by googling it. I'm assuming it's Buddhist in nature, since the book is based off the Tibetan Book of the Dead. What little I figured out leads me to think it might be a stylized Dharma Wheel, but I'm not 100% sure on that; Can anyone confirm/deny it?
It has the eight spokes - "eightfold path" I dont recall what those three forms at the center represent Looks like a dharma wheel to me Buddhist Symbols It seems the center is three jewels representing the 'Buddha', the 'Dharma', and 'the Sangha'
Sweet, thanks a lot man. I was pretty sure it was, but I figured someone on the city would know for certain. Haha hell yeah dude, Leary was a genius. Reading stuff by him, Terrence McKenna, and Aldous Huxley, have totally changed the way I approach psychedelic experiences. Mind blowing shit...
