switching pots

  1. My first temp pots with soil were 24oz soda bottles that I cut the tops off of. I just tried to transfer my biggest into a bigger pot. Only thing is, moving these guys from bottles to an actual pot is extremely hard. I'm afraid I may end up losing my biggest one because of the root damage cuz I had to take a knife and cut down the sides of the bottle and even then it wasn't easy to get out. Anyone know any easier ways of going about this?

PS: I've never had any sort of plant in my life so if I sound r-tarded when it comes to things, thats why.

  2. I woulldn't do anything else that may damage the roots, like put a knife to them, maybe try and cut the bottle down and almost peel it off? will that work?

  3. I'd use a pair of scissors maybe... or a razor but gentle pressure...

you will be fine... they will recover... maybe a lil slow at first but remember ... its a weed :D

  4. Scissors or aviation snips......and down opposite sides of the bottle.

  5. Yeah, a pair of scissors will do the job pretty well. Soda bottles should be a little bit flexible, so if you wanna squeeze the bottle on each side with your hand, then cut down the side where you get a little clearance between bottle and soil, that should be reasonable.

Just do it slowly and deliberately... steady hands and a clear head and you'll be fine!
