switching from floros to 400 HPS 1st indoor

    i am about 2 weeks into flowering and out of 7 plants remaining out of 15 i have 3 bonafide females and 4 question marks, I origionally started 4 and LSTed them and about 2-3 weeks later i started the other 11,some of those that were not as vigourous were tossed out during veg phase,so now i have 2 LSTed females and 1 topped female and 4 unknown and unLSTed although 2 are topped,anyway i was trying to go floros the whole way but i had 7 cfls on clamp lites and a 2 foot shoplight with daylight and plant tube, cfls for flower were 2 blue spec and 5 red spec all 42 watt red and blue were 26 watt,so anyway i ran out of room to LST well before flowering and had to let them go a bit and was constantly moving cords and lights and getting burns from growth tips stretching over 1 days time to touching bulbs,so basically i got fed up and pulled the floros today and threw in the hps so tommorrow i will post some pics of the plants as are now being floros from start till about 2 hours ago and 4 mins ago it went to dark cycle so it will be basically showing where i got with floros and from then on where the HPS takes them as well as the diff between LSTED,topped and strait styles so i hope you will all take a peek

    i tried to post a few times while vegging but i finnally got it so sorry my pics are not too great maybe tommorrow ill pull them out and try to get some closer better quality pics of the topping,etc. for the time being the 2 in back and one on front right are my girls and im crossing fingers on one in front left

    trying to decide if i wanna pull them out for better pics but i havnt had any new post so does anyone wanna see?

    Yeah, id love to see them pulled out, I know my plant looks alot better out of the cupboard.

    If you had problems with plants burning on the flouro bulbs before, your gunna have a hell of a time with a HPS. I recently went from a flouro set up to a HPS, I did this 3 weeks before turning it to 12/12 tho, and the 3 weeks under the HPS did wonders for it. That said, your plants should love that HPS, mine had a massive growth spurt, not so much upward, but intensley bushy. (Your plants are sort of lanky, the way mine looked before the hps)

    Anyway good luck with your flowering. People take a while to respond, but you should get some replies, just takes a while.:smoking:

    ya they were ok when i was LSTing until i ran out of room and had to pull the screen out so now i only have 2 of the 4 that i started LST on and only a couple of the branches still tied to side of pot,the stretching really got bad when i was 1 week into 12-12 and started giving them bloom booster which is why i started the 400 watt up cuz i figured they were trying to get more light to help produce the buds but anyway thanks for looking and stop back in later i got a real cute indica im gonna get some shots of and does anyone know how to photoshop or anything to get closer pics cuz when i zoom in with my digital it gets fuzzy-thx

    for close up shots,i hold a 15x magnification jewellers loupe(magnifying glass) over the lens of my camera,get really close to what i'm photographing(1-2cm) until it comes into focus,then use the optical or digital zoom doesn't matter which to get rid of the vignetting(black circle rount the shot),make sure i'm still focused,hold as steady as possible,then take loads of pictures,few usually come out ok

    some examples,the leaf parts in these pics are about 2mm each,but that's with around 6x optical zoom through the 15x lens,you can make it smaller etc by zooming less

    i have a couple magnifying glasses ill try to use those but i dont have a jeweler loupe ive been meening to go by radio shack and get one of those microscopes everyone talks about in here.as of now im just waiting for my lights to turn on so i can get to work on some pics until then i guess ill just pack the bong /thx for hints

    If you dont have a jewellers thingy, then just get as close as you can with your camera, un-zoom it as far as you can (digital zoom = shithouse) and take the photos.

    If your camera is a few mp (mine is 4 and i have no probs) you should be able to take a photo, and then crop it and take the good bit with you. Photoshop is really good for this, and is actually pretty easy to use, I use photoshop CS2. Works well for me.


    Also check your camera instructions and see if you have a "macro" shooting mode or something like that.

    heres an example of what I can do with my camera on macro mode, this is with no magnifying glass or nothing. You cant reall see the individual crystals or anything, but I think its pretty good considering no magnifying glass or anything.

    since ive put the HPS in ive had to double the amount of water i give them, so i have still been giving ferts only half strength once a week ,does anyone reccomend i bump this up to twice a week as im watering 3 times a week now instead of twice?or maybe just go to full strength once a week?share your experience in this area please cuz i dont have any to draw from lol.I also chopped another larger plant last night it grew some nuts so its in the bag with his brothers now.Ill post new pics later this week maybe they will put on some weight hopefully.

    anybody got advice on the fert question in my last post?i dont want to over do it and have lock out but can they handle more ferts now?

    i ordered some glass that im expecting any day now,so ill post some pics of that and what im smoking as soon as it arrives and prob sunday ill take more pics of the girls to show progress

    i saw a post saying that plants use 2 times as much water during flowering but i am still unclear if i should raise the ferts?any ideas?

    I water every Wednesday and Saturday man... and nute on Saturday

    I pretty much follow the Fox Farm schedule.... Haven't seen my girlall day, and won't till tomorrow; heh, damn I can't wait to see the growth.

    it sucks cuz when i started budding i had it set so i could look before work and it was on a couple hours when i got home then my shift got switched to earlier so now i cant look til night,but hey thanks ganja for the advice,i use miracle grow bloom booster right now but i have just heard that there is a hydro store in town that has fox farm do you think i should switch up?ill post new pics sunday night so you can see the progress,or is that a bad idea to switch now?anyone can answer that if they have advice id love to hear it :smoking:

    I am flowering 3 white widow females for about 4 weeks (See Pics). I am also watering 2-3 times a week but I only nute them once a week. I have a 600W HPS overhead and a 250 HPS for side. Get alot of heat and soil drying fairly quickly.
