STOCKHOLM (AFP) - Sweden's own version of the Loch Ness monster, the Storsjoe or Great Lake monster, has been caught on film by surveillance videos, an association that installed the cameras said Friday.

The legend of the Swedish beast has swirled for nearly four centuries, with some 200 sightings reported in the lake in central Sweden.

"On Thursday at 12:21 pm, we filmed the movements of a live being. And it was not a pike, nor a perch, we're sure of that," Gunnar Nilsson, the head of a shopkeepers' association in Svenstavik, told AFP.

Anyone hear about this SWEDISH nessie? ( not swiss or scotch?)

I tried to post this earlier, messed up and called it swiss, and I realized you can't edit titles. Mea Culpa.

But anyway, does this video look at all convincing? I see like a hose with a head on it, but it just seems to be drifting, not swimming.

    Swedes got hoaxes?

  2. All I see is a four minute video of a peice of debris floating in front of the camera.

  3. That's what I'm seeing, but it's getting major media attention, and I am wondering if I should just get a surveillance camera and stage myself a nice little hoax.

Everybody's doing it, big footers, loch nessers, ufo-ers, there must be a lot of money in hoaxing these days.

I thought the best giveaway was the fact that the guy saying its for real, is the head of the local merchants association...hmmmm, why would he do this?

Surely not to sell timeshares at the lake?
