So it was 6th period today in art class and I decided to get out the markers and paper. I took out a green crayola and drew a pot plant. I then took out the red one to draw the hairs on the cola. I drew a gnome smoking a bong right next to it. When I left class I gave it to someone in the hallway and it somehow made it's way to the office. I get a call after I get home from school and they say I'm suspended tomarrow for drawing something that "promotes drug use". So much for freedom of expression.
That's totally unacceptable in my opinion, but anything that shows drug use shouldn't be in school unless it's a college or whatever... If a parent was viewing the school, they would be shocked at the picture. I sorta understand why they did it, but it still pisses me off

I once wrote an article on why pot was made illegal for the school news paper. Not only was it censored but they had a go at me for writing it and claimed the evidence in it was irrelevent and outdated (which it wasnt).. pisses me off when they stop you from expressing your own beliefs on a taboo subject, its because they are scared of the repercussions

Just try to find out how they knew you drew it. That's the real point of contention here, just how did they know it was you? I would have to go with plausible deniability on this one.
Years ago when I was in high school all the teachers had a list of "potential" drug users and something like this would get you on the list... The people on the list had to be very careful because they was always watching. Any time drug dogs cam into the school they would always run the dogs on these peoples locker and bring them in the classes they were in...A lot of my friends got in trouble because they thought they was being cool. Like somebody said keep it on the down low because it can get you in trouble and it doesnt make you cool...you are either cool or your not.
That's so fucking ghey. You should argue it's not promoting drug use at all. Ask where in your school there is a gnome? You were showing a gnome smoke pot not a person. It's an obvious work of fiction that isn't promoting anything whatsoever. It's just a pretty drawing. Plausible deniablity is another, probably more effective route. Also check the handbook for anything that shows that what you did is punishable and to what extent.
Someone told on you for some herb art, that's seriously pathetic. You should draw some more of it while you're in suspension.
Maybe you should draw a dropout homeless good for nothing alcoholic, they seem to be more open to that than any kind of "drug".
First of all that is illigal to do, school papers have freedom of the press which prevents that from happening. Second u shouldn't be suspended for drawing u could fight that it is part of ur first amendment, speech through art.

Man, that is the most pathetic thing I have ever heard. I would also suggest reviewing your school rules, and then if you don't find anything that says you can't do that, let 'em have it. I got in such shit for wearing a pentagram (it wasn't even inverted for fuck's sake) at school once. It pissed me off so much I stabbed my dumbass teacher in the hand with a pencil. Then, of course, I was promptly expelled and arrested, but at least I gave the bastard permanent nerve and tendon damage. Schools are the best breeding grounds for the bane of all that lives: political correctness. When I was still in school, you couldn't even say "pot" without proving that you were talkign about the kind you cook with, end even then, you still got in shit, suspended and earned the privelage to have your locker/yourself searched damn near every day. I live in Canada, too, and what's more, BC, grass capital of North America. Just goes to show you how bad it's getting. EDIT: Drop out? It's perfectly acceptable to draw that kind of shit at school, but only as long as nobody sees it at school. I used to draw pot leaves and junk on a lot of stuff, but I never showed it to anyone.

If the administrators find it offensive thats on them, but there personal opions should not result in any type of disiplinary action on his part.
