Suspect Pendulum of foul play? :O

  1. Literally a few minutes ago i sat outside chillin out, puffin on a joint while listening to Pendulum. My trusty iPod shuffled to the song "Propane Nightmares" and just as the main riff kicked in i realised, the chord progression sounds almost exactly like "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple. Something smells fishy.

Maybe it's because im super stoned, but i can't decide whats what anymore. Listen to both songs yourselves and tell me what you think. :smoking:

  2. I doubt they ripped the chore riff from Deep Purple. There are a lot of tracks that sound similar, because think how many thousands upon thousands of guitarists there have been in the last century. Some riffs are bound to sound awfully similar. Take for instance Dani California. Red Hot Chili Peppers are a great band and no one denies they are extremely talented musicians, but the chore riff from Dani California sounds almost identical to Mary Janes Last Dance by Tom Petty.

On a side note, I thought In Silico was extremely dissapointing and I wasn't a fan of it at all. Hold Your Colour was fucking awesome and In Silico was a huge step down and took Pendulum in completely the wrong direction.
