do you have any? at all? if you were forced to be in the middle of thick woods and forrests in an unknown area would you have what it takes to survive? i'm trying to get there...i can build all kinds of shelters really well, natural shelters. i'm pretty good at building a debris hut fairly quickly, in about 2 hours. i love those because they are so cozy. i can fish like a pro, but hunting regular animals i dont know the first thing about doin that using nature. any tips? i can start a fire without a lighter or matches in less than 5 minutes. or if i have a flint rock like 2 seconds. and this is what i want to do. i want to just get a backpack with a few supplies, knife, lighter/matches/flint rock, container for water, maybe some food until i can figure out the hunting game or make sure i can catch fish, just go off and keep moving through the woods of america. everywhere. i want to start in the mountains in east tennessee/west north carolina, make my way up to virginia and west virginia, get into the mountains of central PA, etc...i know it would take awhile but i dont give a fuck. people say it would be boring, but i'm bored as fuck all day every day with my current life. tv, internet, cell phones, malls only entertain you for so long. yes, i have a job and a girlfriend. but i'm still bored. all the time. i'm sick of doing useless work for useless money so i can come home and be bored in front of some screen. thats not what life is aboot. this earth is beautiful and most people see the same things every day, the same shit thats on their way to work. or school. whatever. some people havent even ever left the state. does anyone in the eastern TN/western NC area want a backpacking "roommate"? lol. with plenty of bud of course

Hell yeah man I live in Ohio but I am so down for that shit, I am a country boy who has gotten my knack for survival skills down to a science, I have been wanting to take a trip from Virginia to California just with a backpack and a one person tent, and some bud of course lol, I just can't find anybody else to do it with me. As far as the hunting you can make a shit ton of different snare traps and you can use spears in a lot of different applications, its pretty sweet wat you can make just from the wilderness
Go fill a backpack with essentials and try and live in your town for as long as you can. Look at the weather, also you earn major man points if your a BA and grab your backpack a knife, water bottles and 30$ Shits awesome gonna do it on the refular till im comftorble traveling xc
I'd do OK. I can make snares, know some herbal medicine beyond cannabis, I know the local poisonous plants, I can weave baskets and I wouldn't balk at eating insects. You have to know what to look for! Example- Cattails are your friend! They provide edible tubers, "cossack asparagus", the new cattails can be boiled and eaten like corn on the cob and the pollen is a source of protein that can be baked into cakes. The fluff is good tinder and the sticks and leaves are very useful for baskets and more! Educate yourself! Granny
I feel confident I could survive when the shit hits the fan. I have some military training and have acquired some other skills through out my life. You need to work on learning how to kill and eat an animal in the woods. Storm mentions Cat Tails being your friend. He is right for another reason he didn't mention. They need water and so do you. So where you find Cat Tails you find water. And he is right. Educate yourself. And not with TV. Buy a book called Back Packers Hand Book. It is like $12. That will help you get a Go Bag ready.
Good for you for going back to what it's all about. If you really plan on doing this get a good bow for hunting. Look at Elite or New Breed archery very well built bows. I could make it for sure I have grown up in the wilderness. I would like to go with you but I'm all the way in Texas. Pm me if you have any more questions
