Of course, but set it up as a standalone thread. It will be useful to a lot of people who don’t want/have background to design a qb, but want a paint by number build to mimic.

Think, qb for dummies who want a fucking great diy qb.

If you post it, they will come...

  2. Got all the mains tied down today. (Well all but one - ran out of tie wire)...

Thet are adapting to the new environment fairly quick - looks like I could use to up the soup strength a bit already. Planning a 50% water change later this week to start dialing up a bit more...

@Or_Gro - got a few branches on each main, especially on the left plant. Not sure if I should trim those off or keep them. How much extra branch growth do your manifolds produce during stretch? Based on your manifolds, do you think these look like they could flip to 12/12 in a week?

I'm gonna wire my screens up this week... not sure how filling the screen will go relative to flip time on the pre-manifold...

  3. You’re doing a great job.

Once i have all the mains i want, I try to make a flat plane the diameter of the available space i have targeted for that plant, leaving empty space in the center of the res. I let them add nodes to that distance, positioning the mains apart from each other how i want, and tie them flat to harden into shape. After that i just let the tips move upward to the light until they reach my 12:12 target height.

As for determining 12:12 ht, i look at info on what ht strain grows to and how much they stretch (1x, 2x, 3x) and choose a 12:12 ht which will end up with tops at a ht I think i can manage in my available space.

You can google your strain, and leafly, seedfinder.eu, allbud, or other sites usually have enuff info to help with decision.

In your closet, 12:12 ht probably at least 10-12” above res lid, probably no more than 14-16”?

I don’t scrog, so i haven’t put much thought against how the above fits with screen placement and weaving.

As for laterals that develop before 12:12, i generally take off anything in the flat plane area, except sufficient fans to keep tips growing. But since you are scrogging you might want to let laterals stay on and grow up to the screen. Laterals that come out when tips are growing vertically to 12:12 ht, leave on and either lollipop or remove after stretch.

The amount that come out during stretch varies by strain, available light, crowding/ competition, etc. i’m still trying to understand this, so can’t directly answer. But i think you should expect first 2-4 node pairs on vertical portion of each main to send out laterals.

You could flip them now, but i suggest you go thru thought process i mentioned above so you end up close to the size you want/can manage.

    Hope this helps.

  4. I definitely plan to veg for a bit longer for sure. Need to make sure they adjust well - they've only been in the cab for 50-something hrs so far.

I think my plan is gonna be something like:
-Keep upper laterals, remove lowers over the next week.
-Install screens and let mains/laterals fill most of the space (say 75-80%)
    -Flip to 12/12
-Tuck for first week of stretch to fill rest of space and remove any laterals getting crowded out
-Let them stretch and be particularly dilligent about clearing below the screens

All sounds good on paper - hopefully it will go well in practice. We'll see how the next 2-3 weeks play out!

  5. Most important thing, imo, is to have a plan, which you do. Then it’s up to the plants and environment, with you making adjustments.

I can’t wait to see this grow!

By this time next week I will have harvested, trimmed & started drying my first couple of plants, I will have to do it piecemeal as there is just too much to get done in a day or two. I strung overhead wire in my drying closet today and checked the temp & rh, both are within the range that can be adjusted to the goal (70 degrees, 50% rh) when I start. Some final bud porn before I have to cut down these lovely ladies (gotta love that deep purple color in the first & third pic).......

  8. Yeah man! Pretty excited. Just put my seed in the jiffy pod a few minutes ago too, getting it started and ready to go. My little dome's all fogged up and shit from the combination heat pad and light. It's a pretty low-heat heating pad, too. More like warm, than hot, for sure.

Also, Jesus, what do you guys take pics with, digital cameras or some shit?

  9. Ha! I take mine with my phone, actually. The grasscity app always compresses the pictures when they get uploaded though - they actually look a little better on my phone itself.

Looks like CF & OG do a lot of their city-browsing on the computer so they always upload really high-res pictures. (I wish the app had an option to do full uploads if desired)

  10. Man my camera's phone sucks then T_T

  11. To be honest the pictures are very blurry, for me its impossible to tell whether the trichomes are clear or cloudy or somewhere in between. I don't think you necessarily need a high resolution photo to upload here, but it does need to be completely in focus. Looks to me like you need to fiddle with the focus knob on your microscope and not snap the pic until its nice and clear.

  12. Not a microscope, combination of my phone and a magnifying glass lol. I'll see if I can't get a clearer picture when I get in from work tomorrow :)

  13. All of my pics are i-phone 6, except for trichs (carson zorb - i have to take a gazillion pics with it to get a good one, the slightest movement blurs at that distance; but works great for viewing plant without pressing button).

  14. now this is shitty bud 000_7969.JPG

  18. Day 28 of ~84 (imo 1st wk was wasted, really closer to day 21):

Don’t have time to do pic comparison here, but worthwhile to go back to 9/11 and compare to today - plants have big change (foliage & pistil balls), especially with a full defol in between! I attribute this change primarily to emerson boards and far red initiator.

Ppfd ~1000 at tallest tips, giving up on Chandra’s “optimum ppfd” (1500, may work for 30 mins, but not 12hrs, at least on these strains).

Added 2ml/gal calmag on diesels. All other controlled variables in range.
