So I went to the LOcal hydro shop yesterday. All was cool. Got my stuff together to grow my "vegetables". And had them order a few things that weren't in stock for me. Got to the counter and was talking w the shop employee about shipping time and whatnot.. I forgot to grab a carbon filter. Walked to them. Got one and came back to the counter. That's where it turned. When I sat that down he immediately said "oh yea you need one of those. Don't want the stank gettin out". Then proceeded to tell me how he was just a small personal grower using his tent to supply his head stash. And then complained a bit stating that he didn't have enough strains to satisfy his smoking desire. I just paid and walked out nothing less than dumbfounded at what just happened. I mean I, the customer, knew not to talk about anything questionable. But it was almost like he was trying to get me talk. Opinions. Should I not get the other stuff I need there? Or would it still be smarter than shipping stuff to my house. Need some advice. (granted, can save a shit ton if bought online) just scared about shipping. We're talkin one ballast, cool tube, two fans, big carbon filter. Possibly some T5 fixtures. A few timers and one or two thermo controllers. And some nutes.
Was he supposed to say those things? Probably not I don't think he was trying to trap you either. He was probably just trying to start up a convo you guys had something in common. I guess he thought you were cool enough, take it as a compliment. I used to work at a headshop and sometimes I would talk to the customers about weed and shit if I thought they were cool. Don't think too far into it
That's sorta what I'm hoping. He warned me of few busts too. Saying something along the lines of dont get to big. They bust grow houses here every week. But I sorta thought he was asking me for new strains... The coolest part tho was another person in there. We both knew that each other knew. He waited for me outside after he bought his stuff and asked to grab a beer. Went a chilled a bit at a bar and then went back to his place. Had a nice selection of smokables and a decent garden. Its nice meeting like minded people. I think the worker was actually just trying to make friends too.. What bothered me as well was that I knew a bit more than he did about most things.

What else are you getting that stuff for. Most head-shop employees aren't oblivious to the fact 98% of their customers smoke/grow weed. Yet, it is a little sketchy he would just bring it up but you must have seemed cool. I know that 3/4 head-shops in my area don't give a fuck about what you say, especially since they don't have cops coming in and potentially eaves dropping on the conversation. I went into one and the guy sat down and had a cigarette (against the rules of store). Everyone just laughed and 2 customers left he pulled out a J. Really don't think a grow conversation would end up in them fucking me over. Who knows though, be careful. Don't think about it too much you're just paranoid.
