Yellow all, so first time here. Watched a bunch of vids read a bunch of posts but I'm kinda at a loss on my end. I have super short plants, same genes. 1 tipped over as it grew and the other is straight, the straight one is about 9 inches tall and the other maybe 6-7. Now, these plants are 23 days old from sprout, 25 from putting the seed in. They are super compact and bushy. So to the crux of my issue. 1- It seems i should give 1 week to 3 weeks for seedling stage? Then ~4 weeks for veg. Please correct me if I'm wrong. 2- on the issue of topping, these plants are already going crazy at the nodes. A good bit of growth is already around canopy height and nodes starting on those with new growth. Main stem on both is past node 6, while the new growth is already 1 to 2 Nodes in. Nodes everywhere. I get the feeling looking at the plants that maybe I shouldn't top because it's already growing like a ...weed, but if I'm reading correctly topping will still produce better overall, but at the same time if my understanding is correct it is to also promote these new growth sites? 3- is the plant still super young in terms of average time frame, or am I late to the party at 23 days from sprout because I'm now thinking I may have messed up my thinking. 4- Info. 4x2 tent DWC - 5 gal buckets GH nutrients - light feed schedule 200w LED full spectrum ~ 20" (middle of manufacturers recommended range of 18-24 if I remember correctly, Vivosun) VPD is also around where it needs to be on and off lol. All the videos I seen showed tallish plants with little node growth when topping, so I'm kinda lost now haha. Genes - bear with me, I'm very new to this and tracking this stuff down so here we go, TRUE SPIRIT Grandpas Stash R2 x Hawaiian Peaches Grandpas Stash from when I can tell is bread from a line of Grandpas stash #5 and #12 that comes from a line of Super Skunk, Afghan Kush, and OG Kush. Hawaiian Peaches from what I can tell and it gets real shody here, comes from Black Berts 1980s Hawaiian x Tom Hills North Indian x Tresdawg. I can't find much on these. Very interested tho. If you made it this far I thank you lol. Can't upload photos for some reason, I'll try to figure that out asap.
what is your light schedule? 18/6? how much is your ppfd reading at the canopy? you can download the photone app and check your lighting you may need to adjust the height just take a dozen pictures with and without flash one or two will make it through
Yes it's 16/8, I knew I was forgetting stuff lol. It's a photo/reg strain. The app says the ppfd is 465 at the canopy. That's a cool app! Thanks for telling me to download it. I fell it might be different tho, I didn't have to take pictures because it done it live. Do you use iPhone? Mines "Photone - grow light meter" made by "lightray innovation GmbH" only app I see in the Google store with the Photone name.
ok they look nice and healthy it all depends on what you are trying to do if this is your very first grow you can try topping one plant and do some light defoliation and leave the other plant to grow natural unless you plan on using that net if you do then you will need to top them both and spread them out Dont worry about cutting leaves off they will grow back if you dont top them both that net will not really work unless you bend them way over personally i would top and train one leave the other alone and flip in about 1 week this way you can see if you can make it to harvest with healthy plants THen while they are flowering Plan your next grow you may want to invest in a 4x4 tent if you feel confident
Thank you guys for the compliments on the plants lol. The tent is 60" tall, and I wish I had room for a 4x4. As far as want I want to do, I don't know. I planned on topping and using the net until my plants started looking nothing like all the YouTube videos I watched when I was trying to learn all this haha. I'm half afraid if I top and all the growth goes to the other branches I'm going to run out of room from side to side lol Also, neither plant has began to show it's sex yet. Should I wait for that before I flip to flower?
I would just flip to 12/12 now and get it over with next time run the lights 18/6 in veg it makes a huge difference right there if you wait much longer you will run out of room if the tent is that short make sure they are 100% darkness 12 hours everyday no light leaks
18/6, yes sorry typo on my end. I ended up topping both of them. Going to flip to flower soon. Thank you
just remember to not over water or over feed and sometime in mid april you will be hanging buds good luck
Hopefully doing DWC for my first ever go I can mitigate over water/feeding pretty easily. And they are doing well for now (I know it's still early yet haha) Had to train them down individually because I didn't feel comfortable using the net with the height difference and with so many leaves/stems in such a small area. I'll upload a pic if I can. * Nope. Still won't let me pick one. I'll have to take one threw the upload selector. Lame haha
Goes from 7 and the bottom, to 9, to 11 at the top l don't know if I should be happy about that but I am ahaha
The best advice I've heard was to just stay out of their way & DON'T HELP THEM unless you are sure there is a problem. If your gut tells you to top the plant or not, go with it & live n learn.
I did top them both, and I did do some lst on them. There was very little light/room to breathe for the new growth lower down and I was able to kinda even things out some. As far as topping they both shot up a few inches after my original post and after looking it over I was definitely going to run out of light adjustment later on if they were to continue and actually double in height during flower. So I topped, gave them a couple days to recover and flipped. They seem happy for now. I'll probably have to stay on top of the lst here in the beginning to ensure I have room in case they go crazy again haha
