I have a question about using dehumidifiers in a tent…I’ve been doing some research and it seems it’s only really effective to have one of those $50 dehumidifiers in the tent, if you’re not running a closed system.. do you think it would be beneficial to run a bigger in the tent room (lung room essentially- because that’s where the air is being pulled from— anyhow, I’m not a bad day 22 a flower and I’m at about 62% humidity — my AC infinity exhaust fan is absolutely doing its job , and I have a lot of fans running in the tent itself — about 80°F.. just wanna make sure I can get it down lower for the end of flower. I had an issue with bud rot on my last grow and I’m not letting that happen this time. Thanks. I’m in the basement that tends to get pretty humid. — I’d say being at around 60% average is pretty good right now but I just wanna make sure I can get that lower if I need to Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The consensus seems to be if you want to have a dehumidifier inside a tent with negative pressure.. he needs to be something bigger than a personal “college dorm” one I spent $60 total on a piece of crap one and a heavy duty extension cord that I did not even use. I saved the receipt just in case. I’m going to take it back tomorrow get my $60 back and go and get a 30 to 50 pint reservoir big boy. One meant for dank basements. The better ones also have timers on them to prevent freezing over. I got my shift covered tomorrow so I could go to one of the big box stores and grab a nice heavy duty one that’s around 100 to 120$ but I’m getting my money back on the one that does absolutely nothing so I really only be spending 60. I don’t care because right now I’m not gonna lose everything to any bud rot at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Does your exhaust fan vent outside? If so that means the air inside is constantly being replaced through every little crack around every door and window and everywhere else. If its humid outside, it will be humid inside. I absolutely recommend buying a real dehumidifier but keep in mind, no dehumidifier can keep up with nature.
the dehum is gonna have its work to do if you are venting tent air outdoors or into another room.. If so, I think you will want to turn tent ventilation down as much as possible in tent whether the dehum is in or out of the tent and still be able to maintain temps. However if you can vent the exhaust back into the room, the dehum should actually cycle on and off. In short, the air has to hang around long enough to be dehumidified. you can decrease a little humidity by not using fabric pots since they wick water away and it evaps into the air. Use plastic pots instead. SIP containers also come to mind.
just bite the bullett and get the 300 dollar one they are not cheap! in the winter though the heat dries the air as long as you have good airflow in the tent i wouldnt worry a whole lot my last run i had to keep my room locked lights off in late flower it hit 90% in there almost every night for a month never got PM or rot though so i dont even trip on humidity anymore unless it is crazy high for extended periods
oh yeah those el cheapos are a waste of money anything that can cool or dehum a room for under 100 bucks is a scam
Issue is . You need to pair the unit to the size of the room. Yeah today prices are insane . If you were near me i give you a unit for free. I dont understand why you cant just vent the tent with the outside air in your room ? You would not get bud rot then. Your bed room whatever does not have stale air . wont get bud rot. Bud rot is usually stale not moving air from a bigger source . Out door plants in mi they spike to 90 % and get rain dew all over the buds no molds .
I've posted this on other threads, just wondering if I'm right or wrong. I've always understood that if you are cycling air through your tent like you should, replacing it once or twice a minute, an in tent humidifier or dehumidifier are basically useless. There is simply not enough time to treat enough air before it is exhausted and replaced by new air. My understanding is that you have to treat the air in the room that the tent is in. The lung room that the tent is drawing air from. That room determine the conditions inside the actual tent.
Grade answers. Thank you guys… I’m gonna figure out something today. I’m gonna get one either way.. just going to see if it’s better to place in the lung area , or in the tent itself .. or vented in like this dude did
It’s a gorgeous sunny, unhumid day today. Now that it’s almost croptober.. I might be able to get away with a bigger unit inside the tent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sure that is one way to do it . If the tent was bigger just put ac dehumidifer inside . But smaller tents you are correct. I tell people to just ac the main room keep it prefect for you . The plants will like it. if he has a carbon there wont be any smell if set up correct
We’re dryer. Day 23? Of bloom. Yea 23. I’m gna see how it goes hovering between 55-60ish. Stacking hard!! Yo this purple strain!! you’re loving this compost tea every leaf look so much better!! Big stacks. Organic soil ftw. Bro gtfoh - when unknown strain genetics work out!! The other one was a hurt me, so I got blessed with a beautiful purple on the next They ain’t hungry I love seeing tips like this because at least you know they’re getting fed!! that’s completely normal. I don’t consider that burned at all.!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
problem with venting into the tent is you might lose some negative pressure in the tent and smell escapes. If the fan on the dehum is 350 cfm and the exhaust fan on the tent is less cfm ....you get where I am going with this.
This is exactly what I’ve been told, and why I avoided spending good money on a big one if it’s barely gonna even pull water out of the air before it gets pulled out of the tent (305 cfm fan) .. I’ve heard that either air conditioner or dehumidifier that lung room. This was perfect when I was in southern Florida. I literally tracked the central AC and vented it into the bottom hole in my 2 x 2 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Exactly what he says in the vid. Possibly get it on the timer and alternate.? Maybe turn your exhaust fan down to like 30 at night and let the dehumidifier run.. honestly, I think I just freaked out because the room next door to the tent room so I did a little bit and it was raining like crazy — super sunny and dry today, just like October weather would be I have a feeling that’s gonna work in my favor.. I think I’ll be OK — if I see it Trent upwards at all I will do something about it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Luckily, smell is zero issue for me but I know it’s not for everybody.. I don’t even use a filter. I’m on my buddies property acres into the woods. He’s driving alone is like a quarter-mile. Hence the outdoor grow next year. Anyways, I’ve never really used a carbon filter because I’ve never had to hide the smell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The vent goes all the way from the back of the tent where the exhaust fan is.. to about almost all the way out of the room. It’s pointed upwards and out of the room that tent is in. One good possibility might be to just get like 10 feet more of venting and connected and really , direct all that air way way far away from even the second room.. dude oh my God thank you in fact, I’m gonna do that tomorrow. Going to go grab like 10 or 15 feet more of 6 inch ducting connected to where I’m at and go way outside the room. . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
