Sunsetter ballast 240 volts power cord

  1. Wats up guys? I have a ss1 ballast with 120/240 volt options. I read that the cord has to be switched out to the 240 cord. Does the 240 plug directly into the normal outlets?

  2. No. There are special outlets for 240 volts, and you really shouldn't have to use the 240V option unless you have a bunch of lights to hook up.

  3. The reason i ask is cuz i have another ballast that uses the same power cord for 240 and 120 volts. All i do is plug it in the voltage of my choice

You shouldn't be able to get 240 out of a normal outlet. do you have a link for the ballast you have that is able to use 240 and 120 with the same cord?
Assuming you are in the US. If you are in europe then it would be abnormal to have 120v.

  5. I hace a cap 1000 watt switchable mh hps ballast. In order for me to switch to 240 volts, i just move the cover to reveal the 240 socket on the ballast

  6. But now that i think about it, i dont think i actually used the 240 setting. Im reading up that these CAP ballasts come with both 120 and 240 cords

  7. No, you can't get 240 from two 120 volt outlets. The reason for this is that a 240 has two phases of electricity, whereas a 120 only has one phase. Check this out for a better explaination:
