Suggestions for # of lights

  1. Im looking to light up a 15x15 foot room with about 49 plants(flower room)
How many 1k hps am I going to need, also whats this going to do to my power bill.

  2. A room that large can handle way more than 49 plants.
At the very least, I would double that number.
As for lights, that space should have at least (8) 1,000 watt HPS. The euro-systems dual 600 systems are also very cool. 2 lights on 1 ballast. You could do maybe (6) dual 600's.
Of course, all of this depends on how tall you want to go, and how fat you want your buds.
Your power bill will go way up!:(
If that is too hardcore, split the room in half...

  3. Thanks for the reply.
The reason im going with 49 plants is......its considered personal use if I get busted.
50 or more is considered "for the purpose of traffiking where I live.
I also want to have space to move around and take care of the plants very well.
Do you think I can get away with 3-1000hps and a 1000mh?

  4. The average single family home has 45 light bulbs in it at an average of 75 watts .....thats 3375 watts for lighting alone replace those with 13 watt CFL's at 585 watts and ya' have 2790 watts to "Play" with B4 ya' see it on the bill :D

Are Ya' lookin twards Perp. harvest system?

Are Ya' gonna go start (seeds) to finish (Flowers) each time?

Good post man.... I am going to do it this week. Never thought of it that way. +rep

  6. Thanks fer' the rep Bra'.....I make all my own power up here (we live WAY off-grid)...so if there is a way to save power I know it ...lol

  7. I wouldn't bother with an mh if this is your bud room. But, yes (4)1000 hps would be good.
4.5 sq ft / plant is quite a bit of elbow room. Go with big soil containers. 5 gal should be good.

  8. Well if this grow is actually for personal use then I'd reconsider how many plants I would grow, cause 49 plants yielding just 1/4 lb. would result in a harvest of 12 pounds. With 2 1000 watters you could grow 8 very nice trees and get 4 lbs.

  9. 15x15 for flower room
    10x11 for veg room
    4x4 for clones

The first crop is going to be from seeds.
Ill use that bulb swap thing. Thanks
    (chimera).....
    Its not for personal use.
49 is the amount of plants I can grow without getting in trouble.
I'd go bigger if I could do a power tap, but the house where this is going to be is on a new grid system that can locate the power loss to 4 houses.
Plus its a major problem getting busted for stealing electricty here.

My main dimella about the power is.... I want to use (and pay for) the most light possible without having the cops kick in my door. Even if I dont get charged they will still take all my shit.

  10. I would consider using CFLs so your bill doesnt sky rocket, they put out a lot of light 42=150 watt. 1 1,000 watt HPS is said to fill a 4sq ft area so... yeah.

  11. thats 150 watts incadescent. but the wats isnt a good measurment of light any ways. i would not suggest cfls for such a large grow it will still make your light bill go up, except for the clones maybe and or secondary lights. also with cfls they say to use about 100 watts per plant and alot of people use maybe 5 of those lights per plant that would be way to much for you.

EDIT: cfls work great for small grows but not for big grows and it also says if you use cfls to use 100 watts for the first plant and 30 watts for each extra plant but i still think this is a bad idea for you

  12. :) that is goin 2 be one hell of a grow...let us see some pics if u get it up n running
