  1. Well here we go... I'm sure that a similar idea to this has been suggested before, but with the growing problem in Pandora's Box with the rule violations, I feel that it might help quite a bit.

I think if there was some kind of post, or rep requirement needed to post in the box, there would be a HUGE decrease in the number of rule violations. I know that long time users sometimes slip up and break the rules, but I also know that MOST of the instances of rule breaking posts in the box come from low post count, relatively new, and most likely younger members. If there was any way yall could place some kind of restriction on Pandora's Box that didn't allow members that haven't met you're chosen requirements, whatever they may be, to post in the box, I believe it would work wonders!

I also want to add that I am in no way saying that the long term or "regulars" in the box are perfect and never mess up. Hell, I know I recently got an infraction myself for being careless and posting dosage advice.. I'm just saying a MAJORITY of the rule breaking posts/threads come from the newer members, and keeping them out of the box until they learn the ropes of Grasscity, would cut the rule breaking posts to a minute fraction of what they are currently.

This idea may not even be a possibility due to the design of the forum for all I know, but if it is possible, I think it would be worth a try before taking away our beloved Pandora's Box.

  2. Thanks for the suggestion, TnNORML, It's been suggested and is still an option on the plate. :)

  3. Thank you RMJL. I just hope Yall can find a solution to the problem without having to take away the box, however if nothing else works, I can understand why it would be necessary.

  4. I think a post requirement would just result in more random, one-word, pointless posts in order to drive up post counts so they can enter the box, I would favor a rep requirement over a post requirement.

Also, i don't think anyone ever said anything about taking away the box, just banning discussion of other drugs, after glow, the box was created without other drugs in mind.

  5. I think another alternative to this would be to implement a rule that says if you break any of the listed rules one time, you will be suspended from that forum.

I just don't think locking out new members without reputation or without the ability to gain the reputation quickly would be right. Plus some users with full reputation may break the rule.

  6. I don't know about a rep/post count to get in but i like the idea of a zero tolerance to rule breaking. Rep and post count will just be abused (pl0x rep me!11, one word posts) so that people can come in to the box. But if you just crack down on rule breaking and say that anyone who breaks a rule is suspended from the box for X amount of time then you can still enforce the rules but new comers can still ask questions/come in the box.

  7. I'd say to enter the box you must have 100 posts, and have to pass a short test adressing the rules of the forum. Then you could suspend peoples box privelages or infract them or something if they don't follow the rules. Someone created this mighty website :) this couldn't be too difficult... Right? My $.02

  8. I agree with the rep idea

  9. Thanks for the suggestions, guys.
