I was wondering to myself. "How does Substance in any way translate into: Things that are there, or holdable or whatever." So I broke it apart. Sub-Means below...What?...Stance-Means?...The way you are standing, synonym for posture?... Under the way you are standing???????????/ Then it hit me. It just means, "The ground", "The shit your standing on" Crazy right?
Well its origins are in the word substantia. Latin for being of essence or nature Then you have other words using its prefix/suffix combos... Substantial for instance.... also, considering the word stance, means how you present your self in a sense.... substance, under how it is presented.
