Study-Systemic Sclerosis and MMJ

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by Storm Crow, May 8, 2019.

  1. Just came across this new case study about a man with systemic sclerosis. He began smoking about an ounce of cannabis leaves every day and had a remarkable recovery.

Cannabis sativa as a Potential Treatment for Systemic Sclerosis. (link to PDF – 2019)
IMAJ | The Israel Medicine Association Journal | Volume 21, Number 3, March 2019 | Cannabis sativa as a Potential Treatment for Systemic Sclerosis

"Following the medical interventions described above, the
patient independently made the decision to smoke 30 g per
day of Cannabis sativa leaves. Since then he has reported an
amelioration of all symptoms, and complete resolution of
    the Raynaud’s phenomenon and dyspnea
    . Despite his severe
disabilities due to the hand deformities, he is able to perform
some daily activities without the need of any analgesic
therapy. Furthermore, his renal function had stabilized with a
creatinine level of 1.1 mg/dl and absence of proteinuria."

(FYI - dyspnea = trouble breathing; Reynaud's = blood flow to hands and feet stops whenever they get cold, they turn blue and this can lead to amputations; renal = kidney; 1 ounce is 28. 3 grams)

  2. smoking leaves though Wow ! I've gotten a headache from that ... Glad it is working for him and leaves are probably cheap too if he has to buy it

  3. Galaxy, the hippies smoked a mix of leaves stems and buds - I know because I was one of them! It was smoking the dang stems that gave us the headaches. :( The leaves worked just fine, although less potent than the buds. :smoke:

I am just amazed how smoking an ounce + per day of low grade cannabis gave him such complete relief! He likely could get by on just a couple joints if he had decent buds!

This would be a good case study to bring up to those folks who say that smoked cannabis isn't medicine! :GettingStoned:

  4. That's a lot of smoking, I don't care who you are. I'd have to experiment with concentrates.

  5. I had some minty trim leaves one time that I loved vaporizing ... that minty mouth bump then like AHHHH.... tasted like feet though... in fact all cannabis leaves I've ever inhaled tasted like Feet LOl... but that chlorophyll I guess...

  6. Back in the 70's that minty flavor was red flag for Angel Dust.

  7. Wow! just a minty Sativa though.. I think it was super silver haze or lemon... like 8 years ago LOL

  8. Ya, I'm not up to hip on all this new stuff.
What is there, a thousand or more different strains now? I can't make any sense out of it. Seems to me 10 different strains could get you anything you'd want from cannabis use.
