Study- Method to Increase Cannabinoids

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by Storm Crow, Dec 21, 2021.

Improvement of the antioxidant activity, phytochemicals, and cannabinoid compounds of Cannabis sativa by salicylic acid elicitor. (Iran) (full – 2021) Error - Cookies Turned Off

Recently, due to the valuable and high level of phytochemical compounds such as cannabinoids and other secondary metabolites, the cultivation of Cannabis sativa has increased in the world. The current study was conducted to evaluate the potential role of exogenous salicylic acid (control, 0.01, 0.1, and 1 M) on enhanced production of pharmaceutically important phytochemicals. The sprayed aerial parts were evaluated based on phenolic (TPC) and flavonoids (TFC) contents, antioxidant capacity (by FRAP and DPPH assay), photosynthetic pigments including chlorophyll a, b (Chl a and Chl b), total carotenoids (TCC), and cannabinoid compounds. Quantification of aerial parts metabolites was performed using gas chromatography. The results indicated that phytochemical compounds and antioxidant capacity in C. sativa were influenced by various concentrations of salicylic acid (SA). The highest TPC, TFC, TCC, Chl a, Chl b, and antioxidant capacity were obtained in 1 M treatment, whereas the lowest of them were found in control plants. The major cannabinoids in the analyzed extracts were CBD (19.91%–37.81%), followed by Δ9-THC (10.04%–22.84%), and CBL (nd-14.78%). The highest CBD (37.81%) and Δ9-THC (22.84%) were obtained in 1 M of SA. These results suggest that the elicitor SA (especially 1 M) was able to improve antioxidant capacity, phytochemicals, and cannabinoid compounds.

FYI- Salicylic acid is an organic compound with the formula HOC₆H₄CO₂H. A colorless, bitter-tasting solid, it is a precursor to and a metabolite of aspirin. It is a plant hormone, and is also used as an acne treatment and for the exfoliation of dead skin cells.

  2. It’s the main reason I use aloe…. And lots of it!
    Cloning, foliars, soil drenches.
C’ mon Granny! You’re giving away all my secrets!;)

  4. did I miss something. Why aloe? I’ve never read that before but I’m just getting past the basics…

  5. The salicylic acid is a natural plant growth hormone. It works wonders in the garden. Take a whole aloe spear and blend it into a couple of gallons of water and use it to water your plants.
    They will like it!

Can I do on hydro in flowering? I’m in the start of week 6 on an auto. As a foliage spray that is.

  8. I also have soil. Can I water those in the soil or is it best as a foliar spray?

  9. Yup, I’ve had them growing in the same beds as the cannabis, and a few on the side in one gallon soil containers.

  10. Would like to hear from anyone using Willow tree tea. Willow has SA, indigenous peoples have used it for many years to relieve pain.

  11. SA has been one of those OFF again ON again ;lab tests

for years its been a well known tonic to both plants and humans
10? years ago the word went around that was bull...along with the media that supported it
now as above, its on again ...for now
Like with my Aloe Vera garden I bet both ways and often use a limb to 3 us gallon ....but for very hot dry days
as a plus they get much in the line of mini minerals
as for the amount of SA in aloe vera I know not but its more effective than willow tree tea

..and I was about to get a willow tree for the garden lol
