Study - Cannabis & Epilepsy - has obscure MMJ history.

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by Storm Crow, Jun 1, 2018.

  1. This one is too long to copy and paste, but it has a LOT of cool historical references, and even some translations of bits of texts, on ancient use of cannabis for seizures. Here's an Assyrian recipe for a poultice or cataplasm (a glob of herbal medicine bound to the skin) for "hand of a ghost" (epilepsy). I guess they thought a ghost was shaking the person having a seizure. I don't think the horns would help but I'd bet the other plant ingredients would all have medical uses.

“Root of caper which is on a grave, root of acacia, right horn of an ox, left(?) horn of a kid that has
been covered, seed of tamarisk, seed of laurel, Cannabis; these seven drugs area cataplasm for the hand of a ghost, with which to bind his temples.”

I enjoy archaeology/history almost as much as I enjoy cannabis, so this was a "2-fer" for me! :yay:
