Hey guys I just signed up to see if I can get some advice on my setup, particularly with humidity/ventilation. I guess I will start with the background on my room. I've got about a 10'x6'x8' room with a 4'x8' table inside. Only 1 1000w HPS on a 3.5' light mover track. I wanted 2 1000's but my room only has 15 amps worth of power. I got a 50 pint dehumidifier that works great but it trips the surge protector when the light is on so I only run it during the dark period. It lowers the humidity at night to <40% and the humidity rises with the lights on. It is my second round, first round I did 12 plants, got them for free from a friend and got about 3/4 of an lb (not bad for a total test run). The first run the humidity would get up to 80 or 85% by the time the lights would turn off. Now I've got 24 plants and they are considerably bigger and I'm thinking at least double if not triple the yield from the first. My room is sealed for the most part, I've got a sealed hood on my light that pulls air from outside the room through the light and out into a different room. Ive got a can fan and other oscillating fans to move air in the room. First go I didnt have CO2 but just got a tank/regulator a few weeks ago. I've been running the CO2 to keep it between 1100 and 1300 ppm when the lights are on. Since getting CO2 I can see a difference however humidity is out of control now. The humidity gets to 100% about 5 hours into the day cycle since I only can run the dehumidifier at night. The dehumidifier also emits considerable amount of heat which was another reason for only running it when the lights were off. My temps are pretty perfect about 75 at night, 78-83F day, but if i have to run the dehumidifier more it will surly go up a bit. Its got to the point that the plants are super perky and awesome in the morning but droop and go limp dick toward the end of the day because of the humidity. I was thinking of running a long extension cord (50'-100') just for the dehumidifier to run constantly but I'm scared of the heat it will produce. I would rather keep my room sealed and not have to cut another hole in the room for an AC or something. This would also mess up the CO2. Is there a power supply/surge protector that I could use for the dehumidifier that will keep it from tripping the surge protector? It is able to run for a good 15 minutes or so with the lights on then trips it. I only tried twice because I dont like my lights tripping off. Here's a link to the dehumidifier: White Frigidaire Dehumidifier, 50 Pint - Walmart.com Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated. Please feel free to ask questions. Attached is a pic from about 3 weeks ago, ~3 weeks into flower, just before the CO2 was put in.
i dont have any experience with co2 generators....since you have this generators, does taht mean that you arnt keeping a steady flow of fresh air intake andd exhaust? thats about the only way i can think to keep your humidity down...that is aside from getting that dehumidifier up and running on a regular basis
You need to run the dehumidifier during the day. Set it for 50% and leave it on 24/7. At 100% humidity there probably is no transpiration occurring in your plants. Optimum CO2 intake occurs at 80F. When adding CO2 plants can handle up to 90F before the stomata close to protect itself. If I had to choose. I would eliminate the CO2 and just use exhaust to remove heat and humidity, and bring in fresh air, and still use a dehumidifier set at 50%.
Your plants droop towards the end of the day cuz they're getting ready for bed. At 100% humidity you risk serious chances of mold.
Do what?? How does a plant know it's close to bed time??? Come on, REALLY??? LOL The leaves are dropping because of the extreme high humility.. Ok, if simply turning on a dehumidifier trips a breaker, even without it, your on the edge of maxing out that circuit anyway, which in my option is a huge fire risk.. You have two options, well really three, but the 100' extension cord I would not suggest.. You have to vent the humility off, or you have to run a new line with it's own circuit breaker... As far as the temp when you run the dehumidifier, you're at 83f without it, with C02, you can be in the upper 80s without causing any real harm the plants.. But the 100% humility will cause more harm then higher then normal temp would cause..
Lol are you serious? Why do you think plants flower? Because they notice days are getting shorter. You make yourself look silly
WOW, KK then... If you think so... Plants flower because they get less hours of light... How do they know "OMG it's close to lights out, I better get ready for bed"... LMFAO... You're just being silly.. What do they do when you run the lamp 24/7 in veg?? Do they droop after 18hrs because it should be bedtime...
Lol yes they flower because they get less light why? Because they think days are getting shorter. Do you not understand when we grow indoors we are simply imitatiating mother nature? Rookies...
The plants are wilting because of stress. 100% humidity is dangerous for several kinds of mold and insects. It is just a matter of time before you have a problem. The fact that you decrease your humidity to safe levels at night is the only thing that has saved you so far. Consistent, daily stress will for sure affect your yields in the end.
I'm sorry I didn't know this was a spelling contest. Back your theory up child. If you think cannabis doesn't know scheduling of days you really need to study the plant. Learn about the lifecycle. Lol whatever dueces.
Lol idiot. I said plants droop towards the end of the day because they're getting ready to go to sleep. If you go in one hour before lights on you will notice they perk right up. But I guess you already knew that. Haha
I'm made a promise to myself not to go back and forth with people who have "different" theories, as to why things happen. You have to wade through a lot of misinformation, to get to the island of truth, when it comes to growing. Plants only react to their environment. They can not "think".
I agree 100%... And I'm sorry MauiManGo for the back and forth.. Sometimes when I'm high, I cannot help poking fun at dumb ass..
I'm a dumb ass yet all you have to say "they flower because they get 12 hours of darkness" lol duh retard. You have a lot of learning to do son. Good night.
Lol look at my grow journals. I grow rockwool, for five years kid. I never gave soil a go. But since I have a spare closet I was using to mom I said fuck it and gave soil a go. Why? Because I love growing cannabis. I want to learn everything about it. Unlike you I try to educate myself. Lol.
Benny Gunz is 100% right (and always will be), plants droop after 5hrs of 100% humidity because they know it is getting close to their bedtime.. It has NOTHING to do with the 100% humidity... He knows his shit, because he has been growing for 5 whole years and has grow journal too!! OMG!! Benny Gunz is a gardening God and knows everything because he reads the internet!! I bow to the master...
Learn how to read. When did I say it has nothing to do with the rh? And the things I do know, I know from experience. I never said I knew everything. I have a lot to learn and I'm always open if they can provide a valid argument. So don't try to make me look stupid
Right here in this post.... AND right here in this post too!! Sorry, I'm 46yrs old, have been growing for over fifteen years now, and have been to the Netherlands four times... Two times to go see the Cannabis Cup (which you meet a LOT of great people there), and the other two times just to browse some of the Amsterdam coffee shops and observe some of their growing techniques... But I don't want to get into "who's dick is bigger" here with you.. I said you was right, let it go... Dam... Don't need my help with this one, you're doing a great job all by yourself!! LMFAO
