Stringing Hemp...

do you want to MAKE hemp? or make stuff OUT of hemp?

 

u probably have to get a nice big grown plant first, so u can have a fat stock and branches, then let those dry a litttle bit jsut so the outer layer and almost to the center is dry, then probably have to hit it with a mallet all over so it breaks up and start pulling it apart sou have a ton of long pieces and then u probably have to tie them up and start rolling them on a hard surface kinda hard until theyr sorta round.....and i guess do what they do with wool, spin it up on a wheel.....

I make stuff out of hemp all the time, it's become work rather then a hobby. It's a series of knots. I am trying to make rope sandals. Those are hard to do. I also knit and crochet with hemp yarn and sew with hemp fabric. Hemp is very durable.

does anyone know how do get the fibers out of the plant. i dont want to waste anything. i have looked on the net but found nothing on making the fibers for hemp.

It's not a quick and easy process. Before the fiber can be extracted from hemp, it has to sit for months to be "retted". The fiber is then extracted from hemp, the residue consists "hurds." hurds are the woody, inner portion of the stalk broken into pieces in removing fiber. The turn out is small. We tried making paper but didn't have much success but will give another try. Paper is easier then rope. They have machines to do this, which makes life easier, I guess.

At first I though you guys were super hippies but that pretty cool making paper out of your plants I would only use the paper to write my rhymes/poetry on or screenplays/books that would be awesome

Yea we get called hippies all the time, mostly because of appearences. With Brian's dreadlocks and I've been told I look and act like Janice Joplin. We are not from that generation but we are definetly hippy like.

 

i learned in like 5th grade, i guess it was all the rage back then, all i did was go to wal-mart and picked up some little kit that had beads and hemp and told you how to braid or tie or whatnot. i think it was like 5 bucks haha

 

im stoked cuz i just found a ball of hemp...and learned all these nots on the internet......was about to buy a kit from walmart haha....saved me 5$.

haha thought soo.....i made the same mistake but on my sig picture...which wasnt much fixable unless i spent 10 minutes on it but meh fuck that to lazy to hah....spelled industrial as industial...and ppl found it anoying i guess so i took it off. (legalize industrial hemp)
