String theory

  1. I've been reading Brian Green's "The Elegant Universe" lately. Can't say I quite understand all of it, even though it's supposedly dumbed down so that non physicists can read it. I guess the point I want to make is this: the more I learn about modern science, the less I trust religion. At the same time, the complex beauty of it all makes me more sure of the existence of God. Anyone else feel the same way?

  2. yea, modern science allows me to believe in not a god that deems our eternal soul to heaven or hell based on ethics. no simple a unknowable being that created matter, energy, that first cell, ect.

and yea string theory is damn confusing, what i got for it is that everything (all matter, all energy, ect) is only vibrating strands of string in a infinite grid. but i really dont understand any more beyond that.

  3. Yeah string theory is pretty interesting, check out this video..

  4. cool video. Nice overview of the concepts. I'd like to see him speak. Do you know if he does lecture tours? maybe if he were promoting a new book...
