stretching to train?

  1. Would it work if i used lights that were extra far away to have the plants stretch and use the extra space between nodes to train.. i'm thinking of doing this for my mother plant and just stretching it for a while and getting a big windy stem then moving my lights closer and keeping it in veg all the time.. would this work if i also covered some of the bottom stretches with dirt to create a better root system..

I want to have a really really well set up mother plant because i'd like to take lots and lots of clones from just a couple plants to save space in my veg room for more space in my flowering room

  2. I wouldn't intentionally strech her, it is a her isn't it? Also you won't get more clones by streching it either. Just get what clones you can and when your mother starts to get old turn one of the clones into your new mother and flower the old mother plant.

  3. I would not do this often. You know what happens when you make a copy of a copy. But you could do that for a few years without an issue.

There are other ways for getting stretch other then moving the lights. Like ferts high in (N) which will also cause more veg growth, ideal for mothers. Room temps will also effect the node distance. Having a healthy bushy mother is easy if you have good genes/Lighting/ferts/air circulation/train and tying.
