Stretching Babies

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Greenbean1, Sep 27, 2009.

  1. Ok so i'm very new to all this but i've learned quite alot, (obviously not enough). My 7 babies are stretching for light because my cfl's were too high.... two are stretched out about 5 inches.. so obviously lower the lights, but is that it? does stretching hurt the plant later?

One more question... could someone provide some advice on vegging inside and flowering outside? don't really have a way to do it all indoors, it's not a money issue as much as it's a nowhere to do it issue...

  2. I'm just starting out myself so, HOPEFULLY other more knowledgeable members will chime in but, as far as I know, stretching will affect how strong the stalk is and also how "tight" your buds are. If it's still young,( one or two leaf sets.) correcting the light issue should be OK, also, if it's young, put a fan on it and the wind will help strengthen the stalk or stem.

As far as vegging indoors and flowering outdoors, as far as I know, as long as your temps outdoors are mild at night, you shouldn't have a problem. BUT!!!!!!! Make SURE your flowering plants are getting DIRECT sunlight during the day!!! If not, pull them into your vegging area during the 12 hour light period and MAKE SURE you have lighting suitable for flowering plants!
    Good Luck! :smoking:

  3. Hi...

Excellant advice from DeadbyDawn. We have already past the Autumn Equinox so you be fine with the 12 hours of light (unless you in the southern hemisphere). Remember that you plannts will flower for 8 to 10 weeks so make sure that your climate will stay warm during that time.

    Good Luck!

  4. you need to read more stickies, period! stretched 5 inches??? you're about 3 inches too late. at this point, you're probably having to prop them up and treat them like they're made of glass. 5 inches!!! damn sam!!! i'd x-plant and bury a large part of the stem. it's possible that you could get stem rot, but what else is there to do? it doesn't really have any long term effect, but if you keep screwing up..... i suggest you do some reading. cfl's can be like right on top of the plants w/o any harm. do a search and find someone that is doing what you're doing and copy their methods....
