Strange Tips On Growing MJ?

    Ok so, I have decided to finally start growing MJ this year. I was asking a family member for tips; However, he said some pretty strange things that I never heard of:

    1. For germinating, put them in a bowl of water and sit rocks on top for three hours, then take them out and plant them.

    2. Slighty rotted fish makes the best fertilizer, put it in the ground and plant your plants on top.

    3. This is the weirdest one. He said to not go near my plants if I am on my monthy cycle (I am female, obviously), because it will kill them.

    Has anyone else ever heard of this? Is this true, or will it even work?


    Sorry if I put this in the wrong forum, I thought this was the best one.


    Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

    Put simply, your uncle is retarded. To germinate put your seeds in a moist paper towel and put that in a sandwich bag. Keep it in a dark, room temp place. Should be a day or 2 before the root pops out.
    As far as a decomposing fish for fert. Sounds like your uncle was high and fucking with you, but I would say just go to your nearest gardening store and have them help fiind the best nute for you.
    And your cycle has nothing to do with the plants, its strange it was brought up. But even if it was true, shouldn't stop you. You can make a completly automated system if you know what your doing =)

    Lol @ # 3 ... But other two are some pretty sound advice.

    Personally I like to germinate in a moist paper towel on the window sill tho. That way you actually see them starting before planting a dud.

    And with the fish thing. Pretty sure I remember being told back in grade school native americans would do that when planting corn for that exact same reason.... If you are gonna start it in the house I might pass on that. But outside it sounds pretty good.

    I just don't understand what a monthly cycle would have that could kill plants.

    That third one seems odd, if I were you, I would use google or some other source to double check your information. Erowid might have some information on that, so check there first. (If you don't know what Erowid is, just google it.)

    If you want to grow, I mean gainfully, go to icmag.com, read the stickies and the guides, and take a few weeks to go through all the relevant material. Of course everything you posted is ridiculous. You need to make a choice: do you want to talk about weed or do you want to grow lots of prime bud? If it's the latter, learn how to do it the right way from the start and you'll never be out of weed again. Shoot me a note on IC if I can be of help. Good luck.

    your relative has obviously never grown marijuana. he is just telling you things he has heard at some point in his life. I suggest you do some research on your own.

    lol how is this wierd a kindergartener would have said the same thing lol the indians taught this to new setlers in the new world when their plants were failing and they were all starving they showed them fish were a good fertilizer

    I already know how to grow it, and I'm not growing it the way he said I should, I just wanted to see if anyone else thought this was bogus like I did... Btw, it's my cousin who said this, not my uncle. :p

    you know a fish in the bottom of the hole couldn't hurt that would be beneficial but of course you would need extra ferts but i think women might have something up on us men they can get the blood meal ferts for free haha sorry couldn't help that

    Actually, you could be right.

    I remember reading on this site for reusable fabric feminine hygiene pads that if you soaked the pads in water for a while you could use the water for your plants and it would help them grow. :eek:
