Strain Suggestions?

  1. Alright i finally got a grow room setup at my house, completely hidden.The room is about 4ftw x 5ftL x6ft. I Got a good deal on a t5 light fixture 8 bulbs both spectrums, i believe its equivalent to a 400w hps, i think..? Im looking for a good yeilding strain, im interested in nice dense buds. thinking about using fox farms soil.Idk any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  2. I use fluorescent tubes to keep my mothers and to clone and they work great.

    Unfortunately they are not the best for flowering.

    Fluoro's just don't give you that High Intensity light penetration that a Metal Halide/ High Pressure Sodium can deliver. I am not saying that you can't grow MJ with them but if you are looking for something with Dense nugs then a fluoro setup won't really give you that :(

    I would suggest growing the shortest plant you can find, maybe an Auto Strain since you don't need all that much light penetration with those anyway. I just finished up a Himalaya Blue Diesel and a strain named Onyx, both from Short Stuff Seeds, both Auto Strains. They turned out pretty damned great if you ask me. I prefer Onyx but HBD is a nice little plant as well.

    Another strain that might be good is Top 44. Finishes around 44 days from the start of flowering, it's short, and is a good looking/ stable strain!

    Good luck man, hope you get some tasty nugs from your grow!

  3. Well they are the t5 grow bulbs, 4 3000k 54w bulbs and 4 6500k 54w bulbs, i could probably add 4 or 5 26 watt cfls to, with a setup like that what kind of yeild could be expected?

  4. Here is the thing about when you see T5, T8, and T12.

    It means the circumference of the bulb.

    T5= 5/8 of an inch
    T8= 8/8 of an inch (or 1 inch circumference)
    T12= 12/8 of an inch (or 1 1/4 inches)

    The T5's don't put out any more light than the T12's, you can just fit more of them in the same space.

    I am guessing they are 4 foot bulbs?

    So, you could possibly get a couple of ounces if you grow Sea Of Green style. Just make sure you get those lights right down on top of the plants and remember to keep the plants short :)

  5. Well were probably gonna do a bag seed test run. Im just wondering in advance, if i could get a 1/2lb in 3-4 months id be more than happy. I Was thinking 2-3 plants lst w/ topping, You guys think 1/2 lb could be done and what strain would u recomend?

  6. There is just no way you will be able to get 1/2 a pound with 2-3 plants using fluorescents in 3-4 months.

    Anytime you top the plants and LST the plants it adds to your veg time. So, you would be looking at a couple months alone just to get your girls to the point of where you want them to flower. Then you run into the problem that Fluoro's will just not cut it when you go into flowering.

    You will not be able to get dense nugs when flowering with fluorescents.

    I know it's not the answer you are looking for but it is the truth.

  7. I agree it aint gonna happen. At best you will get a couple ounces of low quality fluff. You really need to spring for a 600 watt hps as the minimum to get the light penetration for quality and with a 600 you should get 10-14 oz per run.
