Strain-overload has me frustrated

Discussion in 'General' started by south of the border, Aug 31, 2023.

  1. It wouldn't matter if I only smoked for pleasure, but I am exhausted with the bazillion of variety strains dispensaries come out with on a regular basis around here while leaving behind tried and true strains

I don't have the money, patience or even the desire to constantly try new strains to see if they work for me

this isn't health care, it's crass commercialism

  2. Definitely agree. My dispensaries are focused on providing high THC strains and nothing with significant amounts of CBD. Recreational cannabis presented as medicine.

  3. Of course of course, Noble intentions always seem to fall to the waste side and become swallowed in mass by profiteers, anytime the government is involved.

  6. Part of the problem is the disconnect between growers and consumers, the middle men determine what is available for sale based on what they can make the most money on, not based on what you want to buy.

CBD/THC crosses aren't very popular, especially when you can order hemp flower online and get kilos of CBD isolate for $250. If you are looking for something specific, your best options are to track down seeds or cuttings, and either grow them yourself or pay someone to grow them for you. Some states have caregiver programs which allow you to do just that.

  7. worse when you consider your paying for 2nd rate buds
Whens the last time you got a 7g cola/nug from a dispensary...
Getting all the low hanging buds that are reduced potency, but theyll give you the tested numbers from the top of the plant

  8. None of the shops in my area sell the og strains any more. It is all hybrids of hybrids because honestly the name and the thc % are what sells product. Pollen chuckers who call themselves breeders just pump out crosses that they think will be popular. Lord knows we need another girlscout cookie-mint animal kush on the shelf.

  9. They always get weird when I tell them "grab whichever random strain and I'll take it" "indica or sativa?" I said I want whatever you grab me!

  10. When fashion has overcome the product itself... gets attached to something with anecdotal "science" like essential oils and people get attached to their own placebo regardless if it works. Stupid cult behavior. Its no different than folks drinking watered down domestic piss beer and praising it for being well... american/domestic. People take their shit to seriously with all those choices, ive been fine with black market take-what-i-get for years... having 2 strains at a time is luxury buy not really necessary.

Theres good shit, and theres bad shit... thats about it.
