Strain good for newbs

  1. What is a decent strain to grow for beginners? I was thinking something potent, but short since its just for me and the wife, and easier to hide, autoflowering, feminized. What do you guys think?

  2. Try middys? Lol,you probably don't want to hear that but that's what I'm startin' with on my first grow. Gives you experience so you know what to do better next time, right?

  3. What are middy's? What strains are those? Im so freaking new to this.

  4. Middys as in mids. I just used some bag seeds of mids I had, easiest way to get seeds I think.

  5. Crap. I hope I still have some. Think the wife threw them out!

  6. Lol :D Just make sure the seeds that the bud came from were good smoke

  7. They were great because they were my first!

  8. And I dont know if they were feminized seeds.

  9. Hey, not to bash the "mid" seeds idea... but utility costs to run MY setup is NOT worth some trash plant that will make me nothing but hash/oil and BAD smoke. If you wanna smoke your sucess, and know deep inside that you are on the right track, you really should buy some good seeds. Go to

Cannabis Seeds - Green House Seed Company - Green House Seeds - Strain Hunters - King of Cannabis - Green House Coffeeshops - Buy Marijuana Seeds

and read about certain strains, find one that is easy difficulty, and that looks sexy(to you)... Cause when its time for the flowers you wanna step back and say wow!
If your trying to hide it, get a seed that doesnt expel much odor when it flowers. Cause a Northern Lights plant, and any other potent/good smoke strain smells STRONG when its on the plant. The aroma is GREAT! Grow on, take pictures, smoke up and enjoy your hobbie!

  10. Thats what I was thinking. Also dont want it to end up male and cant do anything about it. But I understand growing crap weed to learn on. Is the oder strong enough to smell outside the house w/o carbon filters?

  11. There are two schools of thought on what a newbie should use for his first grow, and neither is "wrong." One idea is to use bagseed because you should consider your first grow a learning experience and any harvest you get is just a bonus, so why spend money on genetics if you have a higher chance of killing the plant.

The other way of thinking is that even if it is a learning experience you want to ensure that you have good potency from whatever harvest you may get, and you have a decent amount of confidence in your own abilities to do a better job than the average newbie, so better to start with genetics.

If you go with genetics, Northern Lights or a hybrid of it is a good starter strain -- it's potent, hardy, grows relatively short, takes to training well, finishes in a relatively short time, and some phenotypes are low odor.

I also recommend feminized seeds, I think they are well worth the premium, I use them myself and have never had a hermie or male from them.

  12. Thats what I was thinking. Thanks!
