Stomach problems?

  1. I'm just doing a bit of research and wonder if anyone here can help. This will probably apply more to long-term tokers than newbies but, has anyone here suffered stomach problems over the last few years? Burning stomach (usually at night or first thing), nausaea, reactions to an increasing amount of foods, etc?

  2. LMAO!!! me and my girlfriend and one of my real good buddies JUST had this conversation 2 nights ago.

About how are stomachs are all fucked up... and our eating schedules are shit.

Like... with all 3 of us... we cant eat in the morning because it makes us sick or feel uncomfortable... and we all more in the evening. ((not like BINGE, but we actually EAT))

What exactly are you talking about?

  3. Sounds like it's not being caused by smoking... unless you've been swallowing smoke and your body is already very messed up.

Go to your doctor and if you need to, get referred to a gastro specialist. It's probably something like an ulcer or GERD or something, which can both be treated rather effectively.

  4. I get alot of like burning in my stomach and whe I swallow but idk if smoking ever had anything to do with that

  5. I have had some problems lately too. Eating anything made me want to throw up, but luckily I am fine now.

  6. MelT, how long you been smokin? How much do you usually smoke a day or week?

You might just wanna cut back a little if you are a HEAVY smoker.

I smoke about a half ounce every 9 days and have done for a loooong time. I tried stopping, but sadly this carried on without it.

The problems aren't mine per se, but common to a whole bunch of us her ein the UK. I've had problems for years and have tried everything from ulcer meds, to not smoking for three months, to seeing specialists, etc, as the rest of them have. It seems to start with not being able to take certain foods, or being more sensitive to them than you normally would be. It starts off with just dairy or wheat, then spreads to just about everything you eat or drink regularly (particulalry te and coffee). The common symptoms are, stomach and abdomen suddenly burning at different points, chest pains, pais behind right rib, swollen stomach or abdomen, nausea, lack of appetite, usually starting early morning and slowly easing during the day.

As far as I was concerned it was just me who had this, then over the last two years my wife, a friend and his wife, and two other friends (one in Australia) are rapidly going down with the same thing. I have an idea about what it is, but I'd like to see if there is any kind of commonality between us all before I go shooting my mouth off:) It could well be dope related, but not in the way you might think.

Anyway, I'd be interested to hear from others about this, so keep them coming and see if we can find any shared symptoms.

  8. Here's what i agree with...

stomach and abdomen suddenly burning at different points, nausea, lack of appetite, usually starting early morning and slowly easing during the day.

I would say i know at least 4 other people who all feel this way. ((all smoke weed daily too))

  9. I can't eat anything within the first hour of me being awake because it gets turned into instant diarrhea :( This also happens when I'm woken up abruptly or don't get enough sleep. I've been like this for as long as I can remember , though, so I'm just wasting space with this post.

  10. holy shit

I had no idea anybody else was like this. both me and my best friend are like this. if I eat breakfast, AT MOST it'll be a small bowl of corn flakes. usually its alot worse when school is in session, and when I have to wake up before 7 or 8.

  11. hmmmm i smoke weed everyday and have heartburn in the morning alot. i always thought it was from the beer tho lmao. maybe its the weed?

  12. This seems like something that should be studied more in-depth. Perhaps there is a link to weed-smoking?

I'm like this too, but I'm fairly certain I've just inherited my dad's crohn's disease.

  13. Smoking anything increases the incidence of heartburn and acid reflux. But we're slightly different from cig' smokers in that we draw the smoke way down and hold it in. If our stomach's are empty or a bit upset, or maybe inclined to ulcers or chrohns or IBS, the chemicals in the dope is going to aggravate your stomach.

(The hard thing about trying to spot if you have an intolerance BTW is that sometimes they only come on when you're stressed or sleep-deprived.)

See, I've got a wheat and dairy sensitivity (the wheat causes the dairy one) too and you'd be suprised how many people have one or another of them to some degree. We get intolerances to what we have most in our diets. In Japan for example they have high instances of sensitivity to rice, Norway it's fish. So on the face of it it looks like the smoke is affecting our stomachs (so we could inhale less deeply for a period, maybe hold on less? Do those sufferers here regard themselves as 'deep inhalers'? I do.)

But there's something else to it though, this isn't that simple. The sudden burning that was once just in my stomach can now appear anywhere now across my lower abdomen. I don't believe that it's take the chemicals in the dope to take 15 years to get from affecting my stomach to affecting my intestine, so there's something else.....this is just like an episode of House...LOL....

Right, next questions might sound a bit odd. For anyone who's in this or about to be in it, can you tell me:
    1) Hardness of your matress?
    2) Do you find that you sleep to long on one side? Maybe waking up very stiff because of it before turning over?

Mashed, I sleep like a corpse. I may not turn over at the right times, maybe I'm too stoned to respond to the normal 'turn over' signals? I find that if I lie on one side too long in the early hours when I'm awake I can actually feel the burn strting to grow in that side. If I leave it too long then it feels like a burst of acid there and the next hour or so is spent feeling a bit rough.

My own stomach juices eating into an inflamed stomach wall? I'm about to experiment with sitting up to sleep, I'll let you know what it does.

Sorry about the length of this, but I think this is very, very common. It would be cool if we could sort it out between us.

  14. Geez, I cant belive so many people have this same problem. I've had a long history of stomach problems, i wake up every morning wanting to punch someone in the face, or scream or both. My stomach hurts that bad upon waking its almost impossible to even get up. But after a hour or so it retreats to a low buzz of pain that gos up and down the course of the day but usually never compleatly goes away.
However, I dont belive weed was the cause of the problems in fact bud is the only thing that calms my stomach down and makes it feel better, as i refuse to take any legal meds (dont trust the pharmasuticals, sp?)
I dunno man, just my two cents.

  15. Here's my stomach situation. Before I smoked marijuana regularly I was fine. But lately I've noticed my stomach has become shit. About two months ago I started smoking daily. And now after I eat, 75% of the time right after eating I have to use the bathroom. I wake up at night with some nasty pains now which make me have to go to the bathroom. When I wake up in the morning, like just now, I had some pretty bad pains and once again visited the bathroom. All situations that never happened before i started smoking regularly. It is getting so bad that I'm prolly gonna take a semester break when school starts (fuck being sober during summer, hah)

You see, this is exactly what I find too. Some days I can't fuction at all until I get high. Though that sounds a fun excuse, it isn't much...People who don't get this don't understand what an 'upset stomach' does to your whole mind and body. I feel, as I'm sure you do, that it's like somebody cuts all the strings to your limbs, you don't want to move, you can't think, don't want to speak. Laying going 'ooooohhh...' is good though. :)

    We're missing something here...

  17. Well wait, does everyone else agree with this too?...

When you smoke, does the pain go away? Mine does after a couple minutes or once i actually have a buzz

  18. Mine eases off after getting hgh, but sometimes doesn't go entirely. But on the whole that's the thing, for us it eases the symptoms. Maybe purely because it is a light pain-killer? But on the other hand, things like paracetomol or ibuprofen don't help.

  19. Well... like 80% of the time if i smoke it lightens up and dies away

Damn it! If i didnt live here... i bet i could get a med card or something. SHIT!

  20. i get something similar to this but ive had this my whole life and not just when i started smoking weed. everytime i have to go to the bathroom it is signaled by intense stomach pains and cramps that feel like someone is stabbing me over and over in my intestines. :( i have no idea what it is and neither do the doctors. the pain comes in waves and normally after i go to the bathroom i feel ok until the next time i have to go
