stierafoam, sheets and its noise cancelling abilities???

  1. ive seen a lot of grow rooms, enclosed in stierafoam, the noise cancelling from using this along your walls, must be benificial , but has anyone have any exp. with the stuff, does it get hot?, does it dampen the noise immensilly, is it a fire hazzard?

for a super stealth grow. im considering on lining my walls and ceiling with it. there wont be much noise, to cancel,

but this new designed grow area, must be super stealthy. ;)

  2. Styrafoam is flamable... some ceiling tile applications may be resistant. How big of a grow? Depending on your setup noise may not even be an issue. How are you going to stealth the smell? There is probably an ideal setup but need more info.

  3. the area is going to be 3ft. by 3 ft.. and 8 ft. tall,

the reason i ask this is in my high times and cannibus culture magizine, and on the net. ive seen people use it. they sell it in sheets of different width,,,, the same size as a sheet of plywood.

  4. Ever been to dunkin donuts? Styrofoam is a heat insulator, a little extra exhaust should help.

  5. I lined the walls of my music room with styrofoam (sp?...whatever, you know the stuff) tiles to try to deaden the sound from my drum kit.

It works quite well for what it is, but it does leave little bobbles of itself all over the place. The neighbours don't complain as much as they used to though.

As a bonus, when I get a bit over-enthusiastic, and start kicking drums and flinging myself around the (small) room, I don't hurt my head on the walls.

    Padded cell anyone?

  6. Styrofoam is a good heat insulator, a pretty good light reflector, and a so-so sound insulator. To get decent sound insulation, you really need to go to town and cover every surface, leave no gaps, etc.

Thicker is better, for all three attributes.

  7. i think ill just go with 1/4 inch plywood.
