Sticky-Webbed Mucous from My Ear Canal & Hating It !

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by Hydra-Glide, Sep 14, 2009.

  1. I think you should really try out a few vapes before you buy something, you're making a lot of conclusions based on scant research. Vapor is much, much lighter than smoke, ergo you can inhale quite a bit more - PLUS, vaporizers are, again, MUCH MORE efficient than Bongs. Vapor bags do not go stale that quickly, but then again I wouldn't leave a full bag around for half an hour, the taste will be bad.

A half-gram of vapor should last you several HOURS if not an entire day. I don't go through more than one cap at a sitting, and almost never do more than one a day. I still smoke though in addition, but it's much less.

It's also a completely different high, you'll be getting CBDs that you've previously never gotten an effect from by smoking, because they burn up immediately upon being touched to flame.

It's like comparing apples and oranges - yes they're both fruit, but that's about it. With a vaporizer you're still consuming marijuana, but the method of intake and the experience and effects are completely different.

    Try it first.

Oh and I can kill a full Volcano bag in 3 hits. But remember, you can get 6-8 bags from one bowl.

I just received this email from my request to Volcano® - Oakland

    "Dear Hydra-Glide,
Because of the many applications of the (*Volcano) machine you can use as much or little (*herb) as you like; there is no minimum (*as far as the 1/16" minimum tamped-bowl coverage).

  3. Glad to see you choosing the V-Tower. I would DEFINITELY love to know how well it works for you because I'm planning to get one in just a few weeks.

I didn't get the V-Tower, but the Extreme Tower, because of the remote a few people said they liked.
I like the 888 sales-line number they have for Ariser, maybe they have a toll-free customer help phone line too.
Sure, I'll give you a full, technical report.
I'm going to put the Extreme through the test and give you my honest opinion. Count on it.
Thanks for the real spirit of brotherhood friends......reminds me of the 60's and Laguna Beach's Mystic Arts World days. Tim Leary in Laguna canyon. Trading kilos over the fence with your neighbor. Great memories. Oh but the right wing Californians hated weed smokers back then....
Our motto then, and now was "Weed, use it alone (without combining any other substance), or leave it alone." Alcohol sucks. It's legal poison and the hardest substance your liver is ever asked to process. Nut-juice, imo.
When you o.d. on alcohol, you have a greater chance of killing someone or yourself. I've never heard of anyone o.d-ing on weed, but I would like to volunteer for the experiment today. Lead me to it.

I have an appointment with the Southern California VA head of Hep-C studies (aka a straight line to the Federal government) tomorrow. I'm taking that hep-c respiratory/mucous membrane inflammation from Interferon® article that tharedhead posted for us earlier.
    http://www.chestjournal.org/content/124/5/2035.full
I have some questions for Dr. Ho about the VA and weed research funding and vaporizers, et all.
The VA changed because disgruntled veterans forced change. It wasn't like the VA really wanted to change. They were shamed into it. The government has raised weed for 50 yrs. Where's the research results the taxpayers paid for?

9/16/09 Saw Dr. Ho and intense figure reader and analyzer who wasn't much for words, but never missed anything relative to my viral load count.
I did mention that my sought-out for personal custom needs VX Tower was on it's way from Oregon and that vape inhaling is a method I'm going to try and see if my mucous problem goes away. His look was "non-committal, but he looked me square in the eyes as I explained my relief from mj and it's reaction benefit of keeping me hungry enough to eat small (even yogurt) meals all day and never allow my stomach to get empty and spiral into quick nausea.
He listened, but made non computer notes, as he is a hep-c specialist.
He reduced by (6) 250 mg. Ribavirn doses to (4) which will lessen most itching or dry skin).
The virus is gone and has been since week four. I'm in week 19. Dr. Ho told us that my mood-questionaire I filled out for him, "reads better than mine! :)
And he wrote orders to reduce my interferon beginning week 24, (which will lessen my rage outburst) and other "act-outs" where I grit my teeth and try and make my by wife "feel my pain" through grimacing. Childish stuff, but it irritates her which is understandable.
That rage will be lessened now, and my treatment will still continue for the full 48 weeks with a reduced dose of interferon.

My VX is on it's way. Thanks guyz. I'll wear test it and look for ways the device can be improved, if it can be, but I think they have this device all thought-out. They know, they aren't going to have any customer complaints, and you can tell it by their confident attitude concerning their product.

Received the VX tower from Canada today. Normally takes (5) days from there to here. Right on time.:)

Wondering what I should set the digital face heat range setting to?

I adjusted it to heat at 456-degrees (for medium moisture content Gorilla bud). I loose-laid what would amount to a tiny personal bong-load amount of herb, with the Cyclone™ bowl installed, as the unit began heating up.
Then basically, I inhaled slowly on the whip and held it for as long a a standard hit from a bong.
I guess the vapor effect's okay after about 5 or 6 hits.

I think I'll try some white skunk, using same tiny (thrifty!) amount of herb and see how that works for me.
I like the glass stirrer wand. Professional unit all the way.
    Small bowl.
No need to sift the herb first. That's a big plus.
I like the loose-fill aspect, instead of needing to be tamped.
    ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I'm saving my ash in an empty herb squeeze-release lid container.
Someone mentioned making canaba-butter? How's that made? Thank you.

The VX is a great unit. You can see and feel the $300 worth of electronics and thought that went in to it's design.
Lightweight, portable (with the batt. pack access.), and most of us would only use the one whip hose. I'm still to "skeered" (and thrifty- not just cheep) to fill a bag with vapor. Not unless I was growing a legal ounce-yield plant. And a mighty strain of herb it would need to be :).

Some initial zoom-effect may be lost to me compared to the smoke from a bong, but I'll try the white skunk and Grapefruit to check those out.
I could use the hunger generated by it, for some food intake !

    Great VX.

Great advice from this board and thans to HCL for steering us on to the Tower®. Proudly Made In Canada. I recommend buying one. My lungs and throat feel better already.
    Thanks for the health upgrade.

  6. Assuming Fahrenheit instead of Celsius 456 is WAY too high to start with...what you want to do is start at a much lower temperature, somewhere around 350 to start with, gradually moving up to a maximum of about 410, which is even too high. At 456 you're really losing a lot of CBDs.

Cannabutter from Vapor Poo is easy as pie - there's recipes on how to do it in the Edible forum...basically take your poo, using about an ounce or so, two sticks of regular butter and a couple of cups of water, mix in a crock pot on high until the butter is all melted and the mixture is liquid. Then put it on low overnight. In the morning take the mixture out and let it cool - strain it removing the non-liquid material and take the resulting liquid and put it in the fridge. In a couple hours skim the butter off of the water and use in a recipe.

Haven't heard that group's name for a while. Houston, wet and cold. Rocky was their lead singer.... until maybe they took him the the hospital in 4-point restraints (like the did "House" at the end of last season), just kidding. That group had a huge underground following.

Thanks for the temp. ranges. I was cooking way too high. Glad I asked. 350-start, 410 on finish. Sweet!
Yeah, I think this tower is going to be a great investment. They sure packed it well. Medical quality, ground-joint bottle unions. Feels like your using lab equipment.
    ••••••••••••••••••••••••
I'll copy the html of the butter article and the of Reds and yours, thanks.

  8. Hydra, I'm glad the Tower ended up being a worthy investment. I was thinking hard about shelling out the money on one and you have reassured my thoughts! Hopefully it works out for you blade.

  9. Setting the menu's "temp" to initally heat to 350-degrees does makes a big difference in hit quality, and like you said, leveling off at 410-degrees using the down-arrow button on the remote to keep the temp. from rising above 410 leaves you with a nice lung-full of slightly-smoking vapor on exhale.
I turn the machine off after my last hit on the whip. I try to time it so that I'm finishing an inhale as the heating element cools down.
The buzz I get? Is it equal to a bong hit? Yes, and no. I don't get the initial surprise-rush like a bong hit, but the vape buzz "creep" comes on and seems to stay for a while. I think I have to get used to the "new" buzz produced by the vape.

To tweezer -in little pieces of herb or grind herb? That is my question. While the VX instructions don;t call for grinding herb, it says that. "stirring periodically with the stirring tool will crush up herbs into a finer grind".
It seems like you would loose resin to the grind screen, up to the point where I guess, you could heat the s/s grind screen resin remnants up with a Bic-lighter and suck up the smoke with a soda straw?

  10. People apparently soak the grind screen in alcohol, then dry the results on a plate and scrape it up to smoke it. But don't look at me, I've never seen a grind screen:p

I'm looking for a set of 9" tweezers like they have at the med-club.
I don't want to touch and rub off any crystals, or take on yet another "maintenance item" like screen-soaking. I'm having some new fun and feeling better.

Speaking of which, the VX tower is easy to tap-clean with that glass pointer.

  12. Does CBDs produce the couch lock effect, or body buzz as opposed to a head high? Personally I'd prefer the couch lock, or the waves of pleasure pulsing through my body versus the trippy head highs...Hard for me to focus when I am bugged out of my melon.

  13. Have the ear problems started clearing up by chance?

Yes and no. Definitely relieved by taking at least (3) Mucinex® throughout the day.

My problem is getting adjusted to the more mellow creep-high of the VX.
If I take a few vape hits in the morning, and don't take one bong hit, then the ear problems don't come back until I yearn for a bong hit and cave in.
I'm having to adjust, but definitely can wean myself off the bong, as I dial in the temps on the vape.
I like having the temp up to 410- at the end and actually exhale some vapor. I guess that's right. Seems right.

It's killing me to see the dried poo collecting in my short seal-jar, and trying and save it for butter.

Truth be known....I've been vaping in the morning and bonging the poo in the evening.
I may need professional help making the switch to vape only. Or become more familiar with the VX.

  15. There's no real knowledge in the area, and there's an awful lot of research being done on CBDs, so new info is coming in all the time. But what causes what really isn't well known at the moment.

  16. why did this get moved to the box???

  17. It's in Medical Marijuana as I see it - perhaps they made a duplicate?

  18. Now its in medical, i think it was in the box for a minute(or im trippin)

"Have the ear problems started clearing up by chance?"
    ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Yes, now that Ive been using the vape in the morning. Having the vape in the morning, gets me out the door and lasts through what would have been 2 or 3 mini-bowl, mini-bong loads.
So, I reason that giving my lungs, ear canals, and throat the early morning respite from smoke irritation helps.
    1. A vape reduces the daily drainage in my ear canals. The vape is a good way for me start the day after a heavy-duty whey (Whey-To-Go®, (since 1947) protein-fruit smoothie, which carries me through the morning, until the munchies set in by 10 am. - on schedule.

    ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

    2. I re-use the vape poo as bong material during the afternoon at present, when I need the canaba intake fast. And it works good too. I can re-burn Grapefurit herb poo and it still tastes sweet on my lips after a bong. Plus it's still a nice grapefruit buzz.
Still, and I must be doing something wrong on my vape use. I start at 356 and take a hit, not much taste yet, then move it up to 356 and find a better taste, then up to 375 and get more taste, then finish at 390, take a hit, then 410 and get vapor on exhale.
My herb is dense bud, crumbled with my fingers and any tiny sticks removed. (Maybe I should chop it fine with a razor blade to create more surface area of herb?)

Note: "The (VX) unit's (digital numbers) display heater core temperature, not vaporizing temperature - therefore temperature displayed will be higher than the vaporizing temperature." - VX owners manual

    3. I'll use this combo of morning vape and noontime vapes or an occasional bong.
I think that over a brief period of time, my ear-phlegm problem will lessen greatly.

Not using Mucinex® will be the test, to see if even an occasional bong load brings the ear-phlegm back.
