Sticky greens- Too moist to burn!

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by hopup, Jan 21, 2010.

  1. Not a newbie, but a newbie question:

So I've been lucky enough to have a really good connect, the only problem is almost every other sack is a bit on the sticky side. Almost too fresh and not quite cured/ dried. And I understand how my guy would want to move the product before it loses weight if he's already getting it like this (he's not the grower).

I'll pack a bowl and go to torch it with my lighter.. but (almost) nothing. If you hit it REALLY hard and torch it, you can get an okay hit and continue getting high. But thinking about it, shouldn't I wait to let it cure just a bit more for the best burn?

The stems are too weak to "snap", but the buds smell and look amazing (No chlorophyll smell to it, so it's not that fresh).

I usually store my buds in jars, but I left this latest sack open, longer than overnight to help dry out a bit, and I threw in some rice grains to help obsorb the moisture.

Grinding it helps dry out a bit before I load a bowl. Also Butane Torch Lighters work wonders to get it going.

It just kinda sucks because it's definitely some pretty dank shit, but I feel like I'm "wasting" the weed by smoking it up (pre-maturely), I just think it's not quite cured for it's peak deliciousness.

I'm down to my last gram (of an 1/8th) of the sticky sack, so next time I get a fresh sack should I just let it dry and re-up again?

Any suggestions to help it cure/dry?

    Thanks!

  2. Keep it in the jar, when its in the bag it's just drying the outside and leaving the inside wet, in the jar the moisture can spread throughout and it will cure evenly or something.

  3. Leave it out overnight

  4. My dad told me once, that you can microwave the weed. Pipe tobacco smokers sometime do this to their tobacco as well, to get it to their liking.

Don't do it for too long. Only maybe 15-20 seconds.

What should happen is the microwave will heat up the water, causing it to evaporate, thus drying it out.

I recommend trying a small amount at first, to make sure you get it right and don't end up destroying your bud.

  5. mix a little bit of tobbaco in with it, that will keep it burning. that is of course if your down to smoke some batch lol

  6. You had it right the first time. Just leave the jar open or the weed out on the table or something. Air is the only thing that helps, unless you wanna scorch your bud in the microwave like suggested above. I wouldn't really worry about curing it until it's fully dried.

  7. Thanks! Thats what I thought. Mind explaining the differences in, drying and curing? I tend to use both those loosely..

  8. I've done it, it doesn't scorch the weed. at only a few seconds, it dries it out and leaves it intact. it doesn't even get hot enough to ruin it.

If you leave it in for a minute or more, yes, it WILL ruin it. At 15 seconds or less? Not likely.

  9. when i get a really wet bag i just grind a bunch of it up and throw it in the freezer for an hour or so, grinder and all.it works like a charm, plus the microwave method sounds too nuts :smoking::smoking:

  10. oh! just thought of a story :p

we got sticky bud like this one time when i worked at a restraunt, the owner wasnt there and the manager wanted to smoke a joint, we told her it was really sticky and she just let us put it in the oven! lmao it was jokes, i think we might have left it in a second too long because it stunk the restraunt up :s. but the manager only blazed when she knew no one was going to get food there that day :p

Whats the difference between a microwave and those who bake the weed in an oven to get rid of mold?

Weed doesn't cook until about 375 degrees, right? That is why vaps have to be set to 375 or higher to get it to work, correct?

A microwave cannot reach that temp in 15 seconds. (Time can always be adjusted if you think 15 is too much. try 5 seconds, check the bud, if dry, smoke, if not 5 more, check again. rinse and repeat until desired consistency is achieved.)

Its not as insane as it sounds. its all logical.

  12. I'll give it a shot.

Whats the worse thats gonna happen? Oh yeah. Ruin my weed.

It's only a little nug anyway..

    Thanks Masshole!

  13. You might be right when referencing time but a general rule of thumb is weed+microwave= bad it kills the THC that is one of the main reasons people say NOT to cook edibles in the microwave

  14. Exactly, it would kill the THC if you where cooking something.

If you where going to be cooking brownies (For some reason) in a microwave, you would leave it on, for what? 20-30 minutes, right? That would, in fact, cook the THC along with the water.

This is why I've advised to try a small amount first and adjust the time to the size of a bud. If it is a large bud, 15 seconds or less should be fine.

Small buds, I recommend 5 and check, and if need be, do again. If you're careful, it shouldn't ruin it at all, just dry it.

I did it, and the pot still worked, although, the pot I smoked was pretty fresh picked, because I did it as an experiment.

  15. when i was preparing my weed to row it was moiste it ketped going out/wasting the weed i told the dude i was smokin with and we smoked another little bagy 2 days later and it was moiste/wet it wouldnt burn. i smoked 2 joints didnt feel shit and smoked a pipe got about 30 puffs out of the pipe i hold in the smoke for 30 seconds and got about 30 puffs i felt the vodka better lol:eek: i should let it dry befor i smoke it? feel the high better? the seller give it to us moists

  16. Hey guys if you wanna put your weed in the microwave go for it. I suggest patience everytime though. When I grew I came unpatient with some trimmings and dried them in the microwave a few seconds at a time at it was fine to smoke. I just trust tried and true methods more.

As for the difference between drying and curing. Drying you'll just leave your bud out in the open, or in a paper bag or something of the like for a day or two (or however long it takes for the stems to snap).
Curing is done in jars or some kind of air tight container, only being opened for up to 5 minutes a day. This, like you know, gets rid of the chlorphyl hay grassy type smell and taste. Do this day after day for a week or two or longer to cure your bud.

  17. Don't know why I didn't update this yesterday..

I DID end up microwaving my little ass nug. It worked! Well! Too well. Yeah I popped it in for 5 seconds, felt it by giving it a little squeeze, so I nuked it for 5 more seconds. It turned out a bit too dry, but definitely dry enough to smoke. It was only one little nug so I don't really care THAT much about so whatever.

Probably would have been fine after 5 seconds, and it didn't really stink up the microwave or my house. I'd definitely reccomend it if someone is in a pinch, but I wouldn't put more than maybe a dubsack in there.

    Thanks again blades!
