Sterotype

  1. Im sure most of you here are not the "live-at-home-30yr-old-jobless-stoner".
I hate this sterotype, I am over 30, have a house and a loving family. I work full time and love to work out. but I will always get the guy who detests MJ but drinks like a fish telling me how MJ is sooo bad. I love telling him that I can smoke a shitload on Sat night and still feel great and very functionable the next day. He cant say the same when he goes on a bender.
The minute I sterotype him (for argumant purposed only) and tell him that he is an alcoholic, wife beating, fight causing drunk, he gets angry. It's OK to sterotype people who enjoy toking, but it's not OK to sterotype people who get drunk every weekend?
This is where the general population needs to wake up. And seeing all of the MJ legalization initiatives it looks like more peole are educating themselves.
Sorry for the rant, I'm sure this is said all the time here.

  2. the stoner is just another minority, and people who don't know any tend to believe the stereotypes. legalization is like our civil rights movement lol.

shit happens. if he knows you and you don't fit the stereotype, it'll help to change his perspective, and that's what we need to work on. but the hard-working white collar upstanding citizen isn't going to go around talking about the illegal drugs he does in his free time. the only people who are going to do that are the people you think about when you think about smokers. your hippies, your unwashed college students, your basement dwellers. since they're the ones wearing pot leaf shirts on the street, they're what make up our public image.
this will all change in time.

  3. so real

  4. well said, SirGordon!

  5. the stoner sterotype only exists because those are the users that are most visually distinct. It's like when someone says "hippie leftist". They associate hippies with left ideals a thus the sterotype was born because hippies are the most visually distinct sub-section of leftist. Work on the other side to, i.e. evangelical right-wingers.
