Hey I've posted alrdy 2 times no one has really given me a good answer or anything at all really. Im growing indoors My plants a month and 2 weeks old 8 inches tall no nutrients just good soil and water when it needs it. My stems are almost all purple now and idk if the plants unhealthy or what but just want some opinions and maybe how to solve this problem if there even is a problem. Thanks
a transplant into some fresh soil and a larger container will solve your problem.. your plant looks a little hungry.
Looks like your plants could use a boost in nutrients. Either you need to start feeding them, or correct the pH. Note, the purple stems could be a result of cool temps (possible at night?)
could be a Mg or P deficiency. you should look into some nutes, and, as stated before, make sure ph is correct
What are your temps? I live in a desert climate and when my temps get around the mid 80s and up, this shows up as a sign of possible heat stress. What type of soil are you using? Is it organic? Lots of GOOD organic soils don't require and nutes to be added along the way. If it IS a GOOD organic soil, you don't need to worry about ph'ing anything. If the soil is less than top notch, you might need to get a reading and some sort of nutrients to help out. If its organic soil, try a slurry made from a cup of worm castings mixed with a gallon of non-chlorinated water and water it in. If you cant get worm castings, find a QUALITY compost and do the same. If its not organic, get some nutes that have good balance for NPK. Some will say to get something with slightly higher P but in my experience, this could make problems for you since too much of one thing can "lock out" others. Better to be safe with a good balance. While it looks to me like you might have a P deficiency, it could just be the plant. Some strains just get purple stems...on the other hand, what type of light are you using? When I first started using my LEDs, my plants got like that in stems and I thought that it might be a problem with P but I let it ride because I was fairly confident in my soil and I ended up with a nice harvest in the end. This same strain was also ran under a T5 set up prior to the LEDs with no purpling of anything so I figured it must've been the LEDs.
Purple stems are nothing to worry about. The plant is undergoing some mild stress. It will grow uninhibited. A skilled grower can see this as the beginning/possibility of some variable being out of optimal range, and try to find it. But its nothing detrimental, and doesnt need fixing. Just tweaking. Like temps, a little more or a lil less fert/specific nutrient, over watering etc etc
Thanks to everyone who wrote back helps alot and means alot since i want to grow my own stash lol. Since this is my 1st time ever growing im learning as i go and next time im sure ill invest in some nutrients. But like DUMMY said if you have good soil you dont need to use nutrients i have good soil a light that shines about 4300 lumens just for one plant. Idk if that means anything. Usually in the day its warmer and at night the plant is cooler i heard thats best for the plant. Are there any Natural nutrients i can find around the house maybe or the yard that could help out with the Mg or P deficiency? And also not to sound stupid whats the easiest way to make sure the PH is correct. Thanks AGAIN
get a cheap ph kit from home depot or on amazon. check your runoff ph. will give you an approximate ph of your root zone. i believe.
I'm so new to all this and i know there's a topic all about pH levels and what not can u explain to me very quickly what the pH means and what it does for me and what it does for the plant and how its gonna help me in the long run
I speak solely from an organic stand point because that's how I grow. Im not into bashing on other grow methods so please don't anyone take it as such. I much prefer organics for ALOT of reasons but to name a few, I stopped ph'ing my water or soil over a year ago. I ph'ed once just to see what was going on and my soil read 6.6-6.8 over and over. In organics, the life in the soil corrects the ph for the plant according to what the plant wants...it can be 6.6 one week and 8 the next then back to 6.6...it just depends on what the plant wants and the quality of the soil i.e. the microbes...which are generally not present in adequate numbers in the synthetics. Its all about being hands off and letting nature take its course. Another cool thing is that because the soil is alive, you can use other plants to feed your weed via the soil (you can see how I keep going back to the soil). I use alfalfa and kelp meal mixed with water and I apply that "tea" once every other week. It pretty much covers the whole NPK routine and a slew if micronutes as well. It also saved me a butt load of money over the passed year from expensive bottles of nutes (and subsequently fights with the wife over money ). There are a bunch of other natural "ferts" that can also be used in this style of grow.
