I watched a water pipe review on YouTube earlier today. It looked like a neat rig, but he did say the pipe would be better suited to oil rather than flower. I smoke flower. He"s quite the popular YouTuber and it"s an excellent video.
Ok. Now that I read my post a day later, I see I never asked the question I meant to ask which is Why would this pipe not be a good pipe for smoking flower and is better suited for oil? If anyone has experience with this style of pipe and has smoked both flower and oil out of it, what is your opinion on smoking flower out of this style of pipe? Also, I can not find anything in the forum rules about posting links to videos, so here it is.
That piece you linked is designed for flower , most dedicated oil rigs have male joints not female. Plus a lot of people prefer less diffusion in a rig and honeycombs provide a good bit.

Yeah we did lol. That piece in the video doesn't look like it provides a lot of diffusion so that could be why he said that. But if you're looking for a flower piece it's hard to beat a honeycombs. My flower piece is a double honeycomb and I love it. edit :Well actually a matrix should provide a ton of diffusion so I'm not sure why that thing isn't stacking.
Good info. Thank you. I"m not new to smoking, but am new to water pipes and have only been looking at them for less than two weeks. I found a cheap beaker on GrassCity but wanted to look at the local head shop first. Not really knowing what I was looking at, I picked one that I liked the looks of and had them show me that one. It had a honeycomb in it. First time I"d seen or heard of a honeycomb. It looked difficult to clean, but from what I"ve learned in the last couple of weeks, cleaning shouldn"t be an issue. I may have to take another look at it before I order something online, but I really like the look of the pipe in the video and the shape of the tube seems like a good function. At least to someone who really knows nothing about water pipes.

Yea the 2 minute mark in that video is pretty sick looking, I'd pick up that piece for vapor or burning flowers. It's not as complicated as the Internet makes it sound. I'd recommend going to your local head shop and hitting a few Bongs. Remember- the bong chooses you young one.
ROFL Yea, the two minute mark in the video is what I wanted to say, not 7:15 which is the total length of the video, and I haven"t even smoked anything for 4 or 5 days. I"m sure it"s less complicated than I"m making it, but I"m probably going to ask some pretty green questions. Young one, eh? I so wish that was true. I smoke my first joint in 1965, just no experience with water pipes since maybe the early ‘70's.
Thanks. I think the video I linked to shows that at the 2:00 mark. I just like the looks of that pipe. No other real reason. Not going to make a split decision on this. Next time I make a trip to the local head shop, I can look at water pipes with a little more education on the subject.
