I have a 1 month old plant which I topped once till now. Im planning to top the two lateral branches as well soon to get 4 Leaders, maybe I wunna go up to 8 to get my plant nice and bushy.. My concern is the skinny main-stem and if it could support the weight of 8 branches in this stage/age. I thought about raising the soil level which would shorten the stem by 1/3 or so. Do you think this is an good idea ? Has anyone done so before and how about the danger of stem-rot?? Thanks n peace
Look at the stalk very closely you'll see some little dots/bumps that stop at a line, these bumps are roots b4 they break through the stalk. You're safe burying up to the line. It will be strong enuf to support the weight, you can top the existing 2 branches right at the growing shoot to produce 8 branches now!!! If you ever get stem rot just use some grafting wax/beeswax to seal infected ares! peace out like trout
That was chilliger than i thought Will wait another week b4 the next topping till the branches are big to make 2 more clones... Thanks kronny
hi my bumps never stop at a line. of course i cant bury the plant up to where they stop. but when cloning, roots do shoot out of those places. i call the bumps, warts.
In the earlier stages of the plant the bumps play the game and appear under the line of the first real leaf set i guess. That piece looks freaky loizier!! stay empty nama
