  1. Hi This is my first post. just wanted to get an oppinion on my PC case grow.

    Materials used

1x XClio Godspeed One Advanced Midi ATX Computer Case / No PSU / Black

    1x 125w envirolight

    1x 1/3 gastronorm tray 65mm stainless steel

    2x 8cm net pots

    1x 78mm hole saw

    1x air stone

    1x long air line hose

1x 70 litre silent air pump

1x 12 vold adaptor i had for someting that probably broke long ago to run the PC fans.

Some reflective mylar, couple of rockwool cubes, media and a bit of wood i had lying in the shed to make the lid.

Easily around 100 quid to set up not counting seeds. I am growing it in my bedroom and no one else in the house suspects.

Seedling are 3 weeks old now and there are plenty of roots shooting down from the net pots into the nutes.

  2. Hey man,

What has happened to the plants?

    Did eveything go as planned?

I am currently living in a share apartment on campus, I have 5 people in the apartment with me and I want to set up a micro DWC PC case grow like this.

Did you use a bubbler to aerate the roots?

Also what nutes did you use?

    Thanks

  3. thats pretty cool, do you think you could vegg 4 plants in that pc case?

  4. I think 4 plants would be too much for such a small space, remember thats only a single 125 watt CFL, even though its a monster of a thing, I think for 4 plants you would need 2 of those things and thats just gonna be too much to fit in the PC case.

The way I plan on doing this is by mounting a strip of 6 small 30 watt CFL's across the side of the case towards the top, and then have this strip attached to a set of rare earth magnets, allowing me to move the lights closer or farther away from the plants, and I would be growing 2 plants.

Also the advantage with having 6 smaller CFL's is that you can change the spectrum of them and mix the spectrum to allow for better growth, another plus is that the lower wattage should help keep case temps lower. But just in case, I am planning on having 6 fans running 24 hours a day anyways, becuase its a server case that I am using and it has the room for the 6 plants.

I worked out that with a 24inch server tower, I would have around 17 inches of grow space left by the time I add the CFL's and the DWC res, pump etc.

Do you think lowrider would be a good strain for this?

  5. I've heard lowrider = less potency but depends on what your after.
I think the 17" of space you will have left is good enough for your veg.

You could do two pc cases and do 2 in each. I'm not too familiar with doing
this so your setup to me seems fine though. I would be interested in pictures
    when you set it up.

  6. If you did 2 cases and have 2 in each, would it be possible to have 1 case for a mother plant to take clones from, and next to the mother have a little area for clones to sprout.

Then in the other case have the plants vege and flower?

  7. If you are just vegging in the case then this isn't an issue, but a lot of strains will stay short if you flower them at 2"-3". Look at micro-sog techniques and see if that wets your whistle. With two you could probably swing a mom/clone cab and a 12/12 flower cab. Just a thought.

  8. Yeah this does wet my whistle...

After all whats the point in growing weed if your just gonna have to buy the expensive seeds everytime you wanna grow, I would much prefer to have a mother to take cuttings from.

So ill have one 24 inch tower with mother and clones, and ill let the clones vege in there with the mother plant for a while, then ill drop the 2 or 3 best looking for into a final vege and flower tower.

Just a quick question, but how should I look after my mother plant to make sure shes healthy 24/7 and ready to take cuttings from?

Should I use a DWC for her or just potting mix?

    Thanks

  9. Looks good but your DWC is really shallow.. the roots sure do clump up quick.

  10. This was a fail I'm guessing?????

  11. I think it must have been, the OP is not replying...

Nevermind, i will be trying this in around 3 - 4 months so ill be sure to start a thread detailing my grow and the pros and cons of DWC in a mini grow.

    Peace
