Hey gc, I'm about to start my grow project finally, and i'm just getting the detail straight on my grow enclosure. I'm using a 6 drawer dresser (3 on each side) that's about 6x2x3. I'm only going to use 1 side for now. I plan on removing the three drawers and making a door out of the drawer fronts. It'll look lik a dresser from the outside but will have enough room for 4-5 small plants. I am using CFLs. I have 3 fixtures that hold 4 bulbs each and i will add more bulbs as needed. The lights will be suspended by chain above the plants so I can raise the lights easily as needed. My main concern is ventilation and odor control. Ventilation will be handled by a small hole in the top of the back of the dresser, and a fan. As for the odor control, I'm not sure what to do. Ona or carbon scrubber. I'm worried that fan noise is going to throw it all off. Thanks for the advice
DIY carbon scrubbers are all over the place, some work better than others. as for fans and ventilation Im not sure if you're planning on using a PC fan (might not handle your space) or an inline duct fan (much louder). If you go with the inline you can hang it from elastic straps to reduce vibration and possibly wrap it in insulation, you can also cover your whole cab in sound dampening insulation before you paint or cover it with mylar or whatever. PC fans usually have decible ratings on them and there's a whole sticky devoted to them somewhere. Just got to buy the right one and make sure it doesnt vibrate to much. Dont know if youve taken it into consideration but you also need an intake hole, whether it be passive or fan powered that is larger than whatever exhaust hole you decide to cut so you can get proper ventilation. good luck with your setup.
