What's up everybody, The Magic-Man here...Gonna be attempting my first grow really soon. I've been doing tons, tons of research...and I finally think I'm ready. Experience is the best teacher. So here goes my first one. I'm gonna be using a rather extra stealthy method, yield isn't really my highest concern. The cab isn't that big (22''x 16'' x 60''). I cut the middle shelf out to allow the plant to reach about 5 ft but I don't see it getting that big. The cab ran me about $60 bones...Supplies for the setup, I priced to be under $200. Haven't priced nutes/soil yet but I've got a surplus for those. For Stealth+ I got the cab in the closet which closes and becomes invisible. I'll only be doing 1 at a time. As long as I can get 1-3 oz, I'm good. I figure I'll start a grow every 2-3 mos, a few oz's will keep me till then. I've been blowin' for 3yrs and I've had good experiences and bad ones too, lol sure we all have. Recently, nothing but hay has been around...I've gone from blowin' the stickiest, dankest to some bullshit...From what I've diagnosed, its probably cured horribly...it looks great, crystals everywhere but THERE IS NO SMELL... now, i've been upset as of late. New motto, "If It Don't Smell, It Don't Sell...lol, MJ is suppose to relax me, I use it daily. Just look at how I get my morning started, lol. But this shit only made me uspet...A. losing $, B. Not getting medicated when like I need to be!. So I got the OK from my gf to go ahead and start an OP ...Take a look at those pix, I've layed out my plan in a sketch. Hopefully its visable enough for some feedback. Starting out with some Critical Kush or maybe the Purple Kush. Stay tuned....
good luck bro and welcome to the city . what medium, lights? u can make a dro setup for about 20 bucks at walmart. just a suggestion. keep us updated. there's a lot of people (with varying opinions, sometimes) that are only here to help.
Thanks bro. As for the lights I'm thinking (4) 26W (equivalent to 100W incandescent) at the top hanging and maybe two on the sides. Is that too much wattage for one plant? I'm gonna be using soil, I think hydroponics might be a little complicated for my closet, and I think it'd be too much work for one plant. I'm thinking 70% soil, 20% perlite 10% peat moss.
the more cfl's the better. you can position them wherever u need em. good luck again. oh and just be careful with all those cords.
Thanks man, I'm gonna probably draw up another plan to minimize the cords now that you mention it. I wanna make it the most efficient for me and the plant. Question, does anyone think that I'll need a carbon filter for one plant? If so what size would you recommend?
carbon filter might not be a bad idea if security is an issue. i'm not the one to ask about specs on those though. my whole house wreaks so good. lol
looks good. nice revision. as long as temps can be maintained u should do great. make sure u get everything dialed in b4 planting. helps prevent problems mid grow.
Ok now your next problem is that all your electrical seems to be run along the ground. Dangerous to do. If you spill any water or anything you could potentially hurt yourself. They say it's best to keep your electrical like 2 feet off the floor. Here's how my cab is setup (similar dimensions as yours) It's taken apart right no, but what I did was built a small 14in upper compartment that I run all my cords, and my inline fan to. Fan blows out the top, cord run out the back. A lot safer and a lot less mess (trust me Its not always a mess like that haha, doin some renovation)
Keep the feedback coming, I appreciate it all. I did some revisions, and here is how I think the final version will be. the bulbs on the side Would take up too much space, so I removed that idea....instead, with all the cords hanging it'll be more manageable. Check it out....
So I got 4 5000K 23W CFLS (1650 LUMENS, so that's 6600 ) and 2 2700k 26W CFLS (1650 LUMENS ALSO) for a total of 9900 Lumens, and 144W on one mystery diva. Is that Wattage? I know they say 100w but the actual wattage used adds up to 144. I'll have them moderate distances but they don't get too hott.... - Gonna add some white paint to the cab...EFF the Mylar, I don't want the trouble...atleast not for the first run. - Added wearstrip to seal the light out. -WILL POST PIX TOMORROW, CAN'T DO MUCH AT 3AM. LOL Here's what the line up looks like: Barneys Farm Critical Kush (Yum) Barneys Farm Pineapple Chunk (The frost is strong in this one) Buddha Seeds Purple Kush Auto (May be the easiest for 1st time) Barneys Farm Blue Cheese (Gonna save this for my intermediate grow lol) Barneys Farm Violator Kush (LOOKS LETHAL, Definitely gonna wait til I got 3 successful runs) Cream of the Crop Purple Paralysis (The Stoner Cold Stunner) (freebie) Sweet Seeds Auto Green Poison ( Suppose to Couchlock ) (freebie) Lemon Kush (Taste may be the best) suggestions on what should go first?
So...the beans are on the way, tracking was confirmed...the wait continues. Meanwhile, the cab has been painted, and pretty much set up. I priced a Carbon Filter, a small one, that should be perfect. I don't think I'll need it just yet, but its good to know which one I will pick up once smell becomes an issue. But anyways...check out the pics, I just need to add a themometer and a fan. Doesn't get too hot in there either, so thats a plus. And the closet conveniently closes for ultimate stealth. So I go to blow a spliff before dinner and lo n behold I find a single bagseed.....hm, lol.... Now I'm thinkin I should probably do a test run on this one. It was an ok bag, looked good, no smell though, not really mid or good...but then again, mayne some "cool guy" didn't cure his shit long enough...idk regardless, i'd hate to make too many beginner errors with my expensive beans....Just a thought... ...on the flipside, I predict that if I successfully germinate one, from sprout to harvest will be about 12-14 weeks, NOT including drying and curing. I imagine veggin' for 4-5 weeks and flowering for 8-9 weeks. I think those numbers are good. Lookin' at about 3 months and some change....its worth the wait though. more to come...
Thanks bro. Glad to hear you decided to finish up with ur grow even though it seeded. I still think it will smoke great. Please post dried pics, I really am curious to see how bag-seed can turn out..... *****UPDATE the beans are in chicago, hopefully they made it through okay...meanwhile, I'm gonna germinate that bag-seed i found and start a trial/error run. I just wish i could find some decent shit to hold me over for 4+ months...can't imagine watching such beauty bloom but can't taste for months away! The pain..... j/k gotta be a patient patient
oh yeah gonna keep the thread going. then starting another right after. it smells great so i'm sure it will be better than most mid I pay for.
24HRS under the towel, hopefully we get something by tomorrow! Went ahead and picked up a flower pot, but i'm having a hard time finding good soil. Fox farms is obviously what people usually go with but it seems ridiculous to spend on (for me) due to the fact I'd have to order it online....can't find that shit anywhere locally. The pot is the same one i will use throughout the entire OP; I don't like idea of transplanting ...its like running to the store naked to buy more clothes because your old clothes don't fit, HaHaHa! I put a little light on her bowl just to keep it warm...
http://forum.grasscity.com/do-yourself/232457-$15-00-carbon-scrubber-wal-mart.html Picked this up last night...will be putting one together as the smell becomes an issue
