  1. Me and my friend are starting some plants. We have them in wet paper towels to germinate. Here is my set up. Stay tuned in for more

  2. The seeds germinated I've got one in the soil but it hasn't broken ground yet stay tuned

  3. Good luck to ya..im in NC as well..

hope she pokes her head out soon!

how big is that tub?? looks to me like you need a deeper, smaller container to start them in, moisture control is very important at this stage and a large container makes that much harder to deal with. The roots really dont start to spread out a lot until 10-14 days after she pokes her head above soil.

I use organic peat pots, about 6 inches deep, almost the size of a ben and jerrys ice cream tub, just a little deeper...

The tap root that shoots down when germinating, needs at least, 4inches to grow straight down. Other wise, it will start circling in the bottom of your container and that can be a pain to deal with when trying forming a good, solid root ball.

Hope this helped ya some.. good luck with everything

  4. Thanks for the advice

  5. Random bagseed? What equipment will you be using? Good luck bro.

  6. Yea bag seeds soil from the back yard and CFl lights

  7. I'm just trying to get some experience before I spend a lot of money

  8. As for todays update she hasn't broken soil yet and I'm waiting for the tap root to be a little bit longwe to plant the other

  9. wtf, is that inch deep soil? You need something MUCH deeper than that bro.

Honestly, with that setup I doubt you'll be able to take the plant through flowering.

  10. Yeah man that soil probably isn't deep enough and you wont get very far with that light.

But I experimented once or twice before putting a lot of money into my operation as well so there's no harm in it. If you used that MG perlite than hopefully you flushed the soil before putting the seeds in there, its preloaded with way too many nutes. You need some drain holes as well in that bucket. Have fun man but don't have your hopes too high.

  11. I understand not putting much money into your first grow as its a learning experience. but, you need to at least have a good light and soil, as im sure you know.

You can still have a decent setup thats not expensive if you have done your research.

But on this setup...light is only on one SIDE..not on top. soil is no where near deep enough for that tap root. Shit, the plant might not even survive 2 weeks if he doesnt get it in some more and deep soil. At least 6 inches deep and wide.

Yeah I know. The depth for sure is an issue. As for lighting he could probably go to home depot or something and get cfl light/sockets for $20-30 each. I prefer large bulbs though but you'll drop a bill or 2 at least for that. Depends where this guy is headed with it. Let him experience the first sprout and from there it becomes an addiction haha.

  13. lol. I guess so. But, Im the type of person that's always thinking ahead.

He can get like 2 cfl 6500ks from lowe's for about $15-20...and then a Y splitter for a few bucks. That light looks like it had a clip on it too. Needs to get it above the plant ASAP.

but like I said, with this setup he wont be getting to flower most likely...even if the plant survives that long. He'll experience the sprout, yes. But, that's about it. :D

  14. Here is a close up of it. I'm planning on getting a splitter for the light. My soil is about 4 inches deep. And Carl you need to calm your self and learn how to talk to people

Put that soil into a pot. It'll be a lot better and give the roots a better chance to expand. If you added it now with the seed already in there then it might not sprout. Seeds need to be 1/2-1 inch into the soil. Anymore questions feel free to ask.

  16. Thanks for your help I'm gonna get some pots but I'm gonna wait till it's a little older to transplant

  17. Im a douchebag by nature. I dont care if I offend anyone.

  18. you added a lot more soil since the first picture bro.

    :smoking:

  19. you need drainage holes in the bottom if you're going to keep it in that tub...

  20. I can understand trying to get your feet wet before spending big bucks on a set-up. That is logical and probably the best idea but at the same time, your set-up needs to atleast be half way correct.. you are practicing methods that will not help you gain any knowledge. I know some people learn better through experience but in this situation you should read a little bit first. Growing is risky business so be careful, a lot of things can go wrong. Don't mean to sound harsh, just stating the obvious..

    Good luck
