Starting Scrog need pointers

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by High Lord Kevin, Apr 9, 2007.

  1. AFOAF is starting a SCROG setup and could use some pointers. The FOAF will be using those curlicued high output floros that are readily available on shelves. What are some good strain choices that would be well suited to this type of setup? Was considering one of the big buds but not sure if thats desirable for this setup or something more nuggy preferable? The general concensus seems to be that by using floros you have lower yield but the FOAF thinks that by using 5 of them on each shelf she would slightly exceed the lumens put out by a 1000 watt MH or HPS. Lumens being lumens (I think) could this person still expect lower yields or the same? Person is looking to go with 3 of the ones that say soft light and 2 of the ones that say full spec daylight in the hopes of mimicing the effect of having an MH and HPS. Would some different configuration of types be better? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Go to drchronic.com and research which strain responds well with using a multi-branch technique. (I think paradise seeds may list this) Yes you can grow with CFL's but HID's are much better - once you learn how to keep the temps down

  3. I think your friend needs to do a bit more homework. JMHO

  4. Thanx the friend has been checking out Doc Chronic already. There are several reasons why HIDs cant be used for this grow. Has a way to silence the ballasts been developed? The FOAF doesnt think theres enough room in the space for HIDs to be used on shelves. Electrical draw will be a consideration and the curlies seem efficient in that respect. Curious about keeping the temps down ventilation is an obstacle that still needs to be addressed. A.C. is not going to be an option. The FOAF has numerous prior grows with various techs previously but has never tried this method before. The friend asked that questions be posted in this board so that they could hear the wisdom of those more experienced.

    Thanx:smoking:
