Hello everybody: Last week I was gifted a plant by my local dispensary (Im a MM patient) I had zero real knowlege on growing so I put it in a pot I had along with some potting soil and watered it. It grew for a few days but I must have over watered it and now its basically dead. After that I decided to take growing a little more serious. This week Im going to head over to my local hydroponics store and pick up some proper pots and soil etc. I plan on growing two plants outdoors in the Sacramento area of California (85-100 degree days). I wanted to know what else should I get to ensure a proper start in my new hobby. Ive been reading all I can and would like some extra help for my particular situation. Im open to changing my list with your suggestions. So far Im getting: A bag of Foxfarms Ocean Forrest https://www.greenthumbhydroponics.com/foxfarm-ocean-forest-12-quart.html?search=foxfarm%20ocean 3 way soil meter https://www.greenthumbhydroponics.com/meters-and-solutions/bond-3-way-soil-meter.html?sort=p.price&order=ASC Two 12 inch mesh bottom pots https://www.greenthumbhydroponics.com/12-round-mesh-bottom-pot.html?search=pot I know I probably need some nutes and other essentials. Any reccommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks for the suggestion so far guys. So far I'm adding some worm casting and kelp meal, and Im getting bigger pots, Is that enough for now or am I missing some more essentials?
Read, Read, Then read more.. http://forum.grasscity.com/organic-growing/1116550-easy-organic-soil-mix-beginners.html/page-1 FFOF ( fox farm ocean forest ) is a fair off the shelf bag soil but a bit light on amendments.. The kelp meal and EWC ( earth worm castings ) suggested by TJ can both be found at a Hydroponics store odds are.. For just 2 plants the 5 lb DTE ( down to earth ) stuff will do fine for you http://forum.grasscity.com/organic-growing/1169188-organics-lounge.html/page-1 While it's getting a bit long it's still one of the more valuable threads.. only 650 pages.. BT-I for fungal gnats.. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Summit-12-in-Mosquito-Dunks-6-Pack-110-12/100334779 Most all of this can be found at home depot or lowes except the green cure,, Hydro shop for that.. EWC likely the hydro shop.. Buy a new sprayer and rinse really well between solutions or buy multiple sprayers like I did.. I do my treatments like any good farmer.. up well before dawn Spray BT on Monday.. Green Cure on Wednesday.. Neem on Friday I do a bit of change up and use Spinosad once a month or 2 weeks depending on how bad my bug zapper is filled with moths.. Ohh ya run one of them in your yard as well You have to treat for caterpillars or they will ruin your crop.. just when things are looking great the buds will start to die in spots that will come off when pulled and show a green worm munching on the stems and crapping in your bud and causing mold..
Thanks for all the great info so far guys, I really appreciate it. All this stuff is really starting to add up lol.
Hopefully I'll be picking up my plants today or tomarrow, along with what I can get at the hydro store. Ill be putting up pics when I can.
