I was up to something one day... and yeah, by something I mean something. and anyhow, a friend of mine started playing this group called Alash. It's really trippy sounding, and I was listening to it for a while and tried it. I failed miserably. Well, I've been practicing Sygyt for a while and am at least getting somewhere. basic tutorial for overtone [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a940YFaRI50[/ame] action starts at 4:07 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wHbIWH_NGc&feature=related]YouTube - Unreal: Mongolian Throat Singing[/ame]
have you checked out this artist before? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbAE8hGByNY]YouTube - Sainkho Namtchylak - Order to survive[/ame]
I definitely will. It really is difficult, but after a while I am starting to get it. It's only be hours of practice though. I'll probably have something more serious in a few weeks.
I can now work the tones up and do it at a mediocre level. I'm rather proud though. It has been difficult and silly looking too, but after three days I am happy with where I am getting. It truly is a meditative practice, and that is where it started. Tibetan monks and monks of other sorts have practiced it in their chants for a long time. When doing it, about all I focus on is it. Or at least that is the only time it sounds good. Like right now I am doing it as I type and it comes a bit flatter. As I get better, I figure I can get better. Just know that when I'm typing a message to you on GC, I might be making strange sounds. It is very likely. I hope to embark on some adventures with this talent I am working on.
I listen to inuit throat singing every now and then. That's some trippy shit, gonna watch those vids now and see how it compares.
I would recommend trying to learn any type of throat singing. It really isn't all that hard of a concept to learn. It will take me a while before the sounds I make are actually 'song worthy' but they're still the interesting buzzing sounds. I didn't link the best videos, I would have to say that Alash is my favorite throat singing group. I believe that Sygyt (a form of it) was in a Shpongle song, DMT looked up Inuit throat singing... trip The styles are clearly different, but both unique and awesome. this is a good video: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY1pcEtHI_w[/ame] I can't find any quality audio for Alash on youtube
figured I wasn't about to upload a video off of my video camera as I have to switch the format and edit it so I figured "hey I'll just Droid this shit" and so I did. it's sideways and the quality is terrible how you like my eyebrows?? alot of the throat singing videos, remind me of black metal vocalists. best part is when they can make there voice sounds like a flute which alot of the videos i saw, barely anyone could haha. mad respect to all of em
I'm getting better. In my video just above your comment you can hear that I'm starting to bring out the tones. I don't hold any tone in the video as I'm trying to actually build some sort of beat. It's hard to do though, as all you can do is slightly move the tongue, lightly flex vocal cords, and loosen the mouth. Some people are truly amazing with it, but I give myself credit for only doing it for about 3 months now.
dude,u have epic eyebrows..all i could concentrate on...and i laughed my ass off..not bc of what ur doing but the way it sounds ...Uewa Eah
