Good day cannabis enthusiasts. Here is my situation. I'm about week 5 of my newest grow. My plants are in Happy Frog soil (4 gallon pots), I have been using fox farms Big Bloom very mildly, dosing of 3-5ml/gallon water every other watering, Botanicare cal-mag 3-5ml/gallon of water just about every watering and about 1tbsp of molasses per gallon once per week. All water is PH'd between the ranges of 6.3-6.8. Watering is every other day. I recently top dressed with Dr. Earth's 4-4-4 and 4-6-3 (2 tbsp of each) a week ago. I started seeing some signs of what appear to be mag deficiency but with how much cal mag I feed should I still be seeing this problem? This pic was June 10. And the plant in question is the bottom. Strain Chocolateskunk This pic was taken June 16th. You can notice the slight change of color starting to take over. Anyone have some suggestions?
Just out of curiosity what is your water tds before you add the cal mag? Without any nutes. I was using calmag every/every other water until I got my ppm meter. My water is 125 ppm from the tap, same after sitting a day. I stopped using calmag because I didn't want too much to lock anything else out. With what I added in the beginning I figure what's already in it should be enough to finish.
I'm not sure. My PPM meter arrives this week or next week. I do use RO water as I live on a tiny ass island in the Pacific and have to resort to local water companies for my water needs. I'll update you once it arrives.
my bad I couldn't see that. I would think it would be the start of calmag toxicity. watering cal mag every other day is a lot. I water 5 gallons every 3 to 4 days only adding cal mag on feed days. I would also use the big bloom close to full strength cant really feed too much of that its all organic and good for the plants the grow big and tiger bloom you have to feed quarter to half strength until you need over 900 ppms for late veg and flowering. I start in happy frog transplant into ocean forest and use fox farm line of nutes
every other watering I rotate water and feed. I saturate the soil using about a gallon and a quarter to gallon and a half until I reach 20% run off. I use my water days to check run off ppm I use that to judge on how much nutrients I need to feed next feeding. if my run off ppm is more than I fed last time I know that they aren't using that much so I will do a mini flush to lower ppm until it is reading a good number for me, then tone it back 50 maybe 100ppms next feeding and vise versa if the run off at watering is lower than what I added last feeding I know the plants need more nutrients that what I fed last feeding. I go by this feeding ppm chart first part of veg 300-400ppms second part of veg 450-700ppms first part of flower 750-950ppms second part of flower 1,000-1,600ppms. using organic soil that feeds I only water and get ppm readings when the ppm reading drops below my number that applies to the specific stage of plant growth then I will start feeding usually only calmag as I will only need a 100 or couple hundred added ppms then calmag and big bloom when I need more ppms than what the recommended calmag suggest lastly I will add grow big when needed. during flowering after the initial stretch running the first 3 to 4 weeks of flower I will stop giving cal mag as the plants not growing anymore or producing new branches giving more tiger bloom and grow big. this may not work for you just watch your plants they will let you know if they are liking what your doing and also tell you if they don't, this is just something to base what youre doing off of. i live in southern New Mexico our tap is 750ppms last I checked we have to haul our water in from the next state over ( Texas ) as I live in a desert climate so I also use RO water from a local water machine. 25 cents a gallon
Very note worthy info. Thank you so much for a thorough post. Can't wait for my meter to arrive and take growing to a next level.
To be honest, I'm clearing my wife's land to build my small indoor grow op. Going to be named, "The Office" complete with a small guest room. Hit me up in the next year or two.
I have considered organic soil but with where I live, obtaining everything is a challenge. I'm trying to use what is sold at our local hardware store to keep cost down and maximize what I can use straight from the shelves here.. Even with that said, I still have to order certain goods. Hopefully down the road I can order everything in bulk to keep a steady healthy grow medium at my disposal. Last grow was Coco and I had pretty good results. Harvested and cured my yeild was 65 grams per plant. I tried to re-amend the medium, but all of my seeds would sprout and die.. So I ditched it for the next most available product which was Fox Farms Happy Frog. I much prefer Coco. Just need to learn how to effectively wash, buff and amend the Coco more effectively.
U need help clearing? I'll bring a bag of beans too. I got some California dream I've been wanting to grow. But I will, I'll help with the setup of a hydro perpetual grow like mine if you are interested. Here is my journal with the perpetual setup of a clone tent 2x2, veg tent 5x5, and flower tent 5x5, running in the flower tent 960 watts of kingbright QB288's, and some old cheap shit in the other tents that works ok for veggin' Last one for a while
Just checked out your journal.. Very impressive work! Do you grow commercially or strictly for yourself? This island I'm living on just passed their cannabis law and I'm racing to bite off a part of the market here. Nothing huge, just enough to stay busy, build my wife's farm and raise our son. Basically, with the current market price here, if I could grow 3 lbs a year, I'm golden.. That's literally one harvest from you.. You'd be killing it here. My last harvest I yielded about 200g cured from three autos. I'm trying to get a lb from my 4x4. (This was my Auto Gelato grown from compressed Coco and dry amendments) Total of 3 grows.. Still have a ton to learn and master. I would to bring you here and help set something up. Could go partners and hook each other up. Own a little of this island and truly live in paradise.
Not a commercial grower. I or my wife makes oil with the LEVO II and gives it to some folks at church, and a few others to help with aches and pains. The island sounds good to me
I would make a list of what you're going to build your soil with, then go see what you can get. I would also switch to ten gallon pots, and I think you would see your yields double, or even triple depending on your light, and environment they are growing in. The first thing to look for would be the humus portion. Worm castings and/or very high quality compost. (you could start doing both if space allows.) I can't answer your original question, sorry. I have never used a cal-mag product.
