I played for about a week or two after my girlfriend decided to get it, but stopped shortly thereafter. Not nearly enough time to consider myself 'good' by anyone's standards, as I genuinely suck at RTS games to begin with. Might get back into it after the holidays.
Ok first off, I played Starcraft 1 since 97 when they had shareware. This was my name. So a high level player stole his name from me. AND my real name is Jimmy. I have precedence over this name Not to mention 2200 diamond is still pretty high level.

I'm not sure what your financial situation is but you could probably spend $250 or $300 to build a new computer that can run pretty much anything (maybe not well) and would leave plenty of room for future investments (very upgradable). Don't be intimidated by it either, it is super easy. Very few things you can fuck up and plenty of support on the web. Tom's Hardware is a great site to start learning.
Are you the real Jimmy? Ive watched you play on TotalBiscuit's stream a few times. Itd be cool to play a few games with you. Im a mid-level diamond toss (about ~700 when I stopped playing a few months ago) and I just started to get back into playing again, but I may be switching over to Terran this time around. Time to go look up my character code . Its always nice seeing SC players on GC. Edit: Just saw your post, that must be annoying lol. It bothers me that theres a ton of other people who use the name I've been using for SC on bnet since the summer of '98, and I bet itd bother me even more if one was a pro.
My plan is to build a solid desktop in the next year. Right now all I have is my basic laptop that gets me around and about for school it runs some things but graphics card wise its very very basic. My plans is to put a nice amount into something that I can keep for years while upgrading piece by piece as things become outdated.
Definitely make sure to get a good mobo. I would go with an am3 socket ddr3 mobo. Get a cheap am3 processor, cheap ddr3 ram, and a decent graphics card that thing would run whatever. A very cost effective card is the ati 5770. AMD just bought ATI so the new 6 series may actually be pretty good, but I'm not sure about everything as to price per performance.
Nice thread! Ive tried making those signature pieces with your league/ranking/pts whatnot but have not been able to make one. Everytime i try to add it in my profile it says file too large! Can anyone make it properly for me? Id greatly appreciate it. I play and love this game, not as good as the OP, but still pretty good. I gotta say though man.. Teamliquid.com ' s forums suck. You can learn alot from the content, and i def recommend you going there to learn to be a better player, but dont get involved in their forum. Worst community, and worst mods of all time.

bump. Bought SC2 yesterday looking for people to play with. I played OG SC back in the day and was pretty good but never competitive with the skilled players. I played a lot of lurker D and that one RPG thing that was like starcraft high school. if anyone wants to practice hit me up
