This is insanely exciting and terrifying at the same time. On one hand: new Star Wars films! Star Wars media that isn't to do with the Clone Wars! Star Wars films that aren't written by George Lucas! On the other: there's already thirty years of 'after the original trilogy' Star Wars continuity and unless this is a straight adaptation of some (if not all) of those books/comics/games it's going to step on a LOT of toes (professionally, since a large number of authors have worked in that universe and a lot of money has been made) and upset a LOT of people (both professionally and with the fans of the Expanded Universe). The optimist in me is very excited, the crushingly cynical part of me is already disappointed.
so im going to guess disney will be involved in the making of Underworld... the live action show lucas has been talking about since like 2006 or some shit? Fuck that disney cant make SHIT for a TV show
It's not "Disney" we need to be worried about. All Disney want is to make money. A new Star Wars film is going to sell huge regardless of any other factors. Star Wars is Star Wars, one of the greatest pieces of fiction ever created with millions of hardcore fans and even more casual fans. Again, Disney just want to make money. We need to worry about whoever gets the job as director and most importantly: writers. About the TV show though, I doubt that's ever going to come to fruition. It's always been a "maybe" and isn't ever going to be made. No point when they can just make animated series.
Yea, all i remember is last year lucas said it would be atleast 2 more years until it happened surprise surprise lucas lied and is an asshole lol im so sick of him, ruining things he already created... Jones....Star Wars.... fucking old dude needs to get off the bandwagon and let his shit go down as legends rather than "yea star wars rocked, until lucas remade them all 10 times in ultra mega 3d with new actors and shit" its going to happen lol, i bet before 2020, we see remakes of eps 4,5,and 6
Meh, all I'd need is for him to take even a beginners course on writing romantic dialogue and I'd be fine with Lucas at the helm til death. The 3D doesn't bother me at all. Just a chance for me watch the original Star Wars films in cinemas instead of TV, something I've never had the chance to do. I'm more than willing to pay to see ANH, ESB and ROTJ in the theater. TPM-3D sucked because it was TPM, the older movies are going to look FANTASTIC in 3D, especially things like the Trench Run and all the space battles.

Another 3 episodes... It just, won't be as good as one thinks.. With Lucas not directing.. Even with the expanded universe.. Just wont.. Have the same feeling.. Disney can kiss it.
I am not looking forward to this at all. It doesn't matter how Disney approaches it or how good the new films might be - the originals are too iconic and no amount of cgi can ever improve on 4,5,6. 1,2,3 sucked and I don't have much hope for 7,8,9. Meh I'm just set in my ways with this. Also Disney has a way of sucking the life out of everything good with sequels out the ass and over the top merchandising. They are ruining a pure and beautiful thing.
idk, I'm still excited, atleast its not like he just wrote 7-9 so who knows how good or bad they are. if I remember correctly, I think he said the only reason it took him so long for 1-3 is because he didnt have the technology to do it how he wanted. honestly it would be cool if we got a bit grittier sw, but that obviously wont happen at disney.
A good idea,this is not. I hope I'm wrong but I would rather expect a huge cinematic pile of crap and be surprised if it's actually good rather than expecting the best and being disappointed if it sucks. (I feel like I used the word rather too much. Oh well you guys know what I'm trying to say lol.)
So we're gonna get Return of the Returned Jedi 2 or something. Or maybe Disney won't make it a pile of crap, that'd be pretty cool.
More endless sequels and merchandising, eh? Disney just wants to own the world don't they? Apparently there's talk of this post ROTJ trilogy focusing on Han and Leia's kids. I'm a little worried about the Disneyfication of Star Wars, but at the same time it can't be worse than TPM, right? And as for Underworld, I wouldn't rule it out entirely considering that Iger thinks Star Wars is great for TV.
