So I'm gonna be growing indoors soon... but I can't afford to spend money on much as it is right now... equipment will eat my funds, So seeds from a seed bank are a little out of the question, Plus I worry about ordering seeds online, for fear of being busted... So I've saved some seeds from the cannabis we bought a few months ago. I've got 8 seeds. They're a total mystery to me, I don't know what strain they are, or even if they are usable. And this worries me a lot, cause I'd hate to go through all the work, of trying to grow, only to find out these seeds weren't even worth starting with. My question is, and I'm sure this has been asked here before, but I'd be thankful for a simple answer... Can I use these seeds to grow any viable plants? Do I have any chance of getting a smokable result? I ask, because I've heard sometimes seeds either wont grow at all, or only make an unusable plant. From what I've read here on the forum, Even if I got a hermaphrodite plant, it would still be smokable. Right? Or would it be such low potency, that we wouldn't get high from it? Thanks in advance, any information, even a link to another thread, would be appreciated!
Newbie starting with bagseed is a good idea. Expect to make mistakes on your first grow, treat it as a learning experience. Bagseed is just any seed that you don't know the pedigree. But it could be killer genetics, you just don't know. If the bag it came from was good then you could harvest bud at least as good. Nothing wrong with starting from seed, just a 50/50 chance of males that you don't want because no smokable bud and could pollinate your females.
Yeah, this is certainly going to be a learning experience... Frankly, I don't expect much at all from this first try, but I can still hope.lol On a side note, that reminds me... If I DO allow the males to pollinate the females, will the buds still be smokable? I know that it will be less potent, but by how much? The reason I would want to do this, is to continue the supply of seeds... But then again, I might not, if I can keep a mother plant to get clones off of. This is only gonna be a personal supply grow for me and my old parents (medical users)... So I wont have more than 3 or 4 plants max at a time... =/ Also, thanks for your answer... I feel a little less worried about these seeds now.
I have never done it but you can keep a male seperate (under some cfl's or whatever) and harvest the pollin then use q tip to apply it to certain buds on a female. Wont g
