Stainless steel nail ?

Discussion in 'Concentrate Tools' started by Shmev, Jan 31, 2014.

  1. Hey dudes, so im gonna be getting a rig off gc tomorrow and it comes with a 18mm ss nail. Ive done some lookin up and everyone says ss is a no go, toxic and whathave you, but i was wonderingwl why would gc sell a ss nail with their own brand? If its toxic that is. If anyone could tell me the deal about using a ss nail and how bad it really is that would be great. I will more than likely get a quartz from my lhs, as i will only dab every now and then so no need for a ti im guessing.

  2. Show me a link, shouldnt be selling SS nails forsure.

Quartz is the way to go for your situation. get one off ebay, your headshop will most likely upcharge out the ass

  3.
I discussed this with some sharp guys on here by PM a while back. stainless has the potential to out gas hexavalent chrome. I have plasma cut and welded stainless and a lot of exotic alloys so im going to die from that shit anyway.

Titanium is very good and the quartz would be the best.

  4. that better be a typo

  5. wtf haha. if u wanna go cheap just like jimmy said get a quartz nail for $8 off ebay. if u wanna go expensive go with a real ti nail

  6. Just put the order through, got this thing for a steaaaal !! But i know not to use the nail, unlesa it truley ia a typo , is there any way to tell if its ti or ss ?

put a magnet to it, if theres a weak pull, its cheap Ti with other metals present. if it has a strong pull its definitely steel

quality Gr.2 Ti will not be magnetic in any way

  9.
im pretty sure all the GlassCity concentrate tubes comes with "stainless steel" nails...
atleast the few i looked at did.

throw the nail away.... if you value your health. I can't believe they are selling stainless steel nails.

  12. No kidding, ill do the magnet for shits and giggs, but i certainly will not be using it, unless it truley is a typo on the website. Maybe i should submit a tixket to customer service asking to clarify ..?

Send an email to Grasscity and demand a Ti nail because SS is shit. If the letter is well written you may get it for exchange.

I torch the resin and extra shit off my SS dab tools and the smell is funny and the metal turns a bluish blackish color.

Sent a friendly email asking them to replace the nail with quartz .. now waiting on a response ..

  16. No go on them replacing the nail, oh well I can manage to get one off ebay for 8 bones lol

  17. are u in the US? have fun waiting for 2 months till it comes in.

  18. Canada, im well aware of shipping times from gc and generally its not their fault, i realize things can get held up at customs, i just dont cry about it like everyone else posts about. It left the warehouse this morning so we shall see how long it takes. Hoping for a smooth process through customs lol

  19. This thing is shippin fast ! got my confirmation on the 6th and tracked it to arrive on the 18th !!!!! Just goes to show that its not always gc's fault !
